September was a crazy month for me. I thought everything was going great and I was going to continue living in Canada for another 6 months by getting a new visitor visa. That ended up failing pretty hard and it took me almost two weeks to get back into the game.
Apparently as a visitor in Canada you are not supposed to actually be in Canada more than half the time, evaluated over a monthly or yearly basis. I had told them originally that I would be staying there for four months over the summer, and they granted me that four months of access. However now they are only going to let me be in Canada 3 nights a week. If anyone has any interest in renting a place in Canada for poker, I can definitely fill you in with the details of what works and what doesn't.
Given that I only had 2/3 of the month and only 3 nights a week to play, I didn't end up getting in that much volume. I ran pretty hot over the month with the poker that I did get to play though. Either I had a breakthrough or I just ran good, but only time will tell.
I have changed up my strategy quite a bit recently. I've been playing mostly the full ring games at NL50 and NL100 on Stars. I came to the realization watching some videos of guys who play in those games that my strategy behind c-betting versus checking was pretty flawed for two reasons. First, checking has a considerable amount of value because guys play looser when you check to them than when you bet into them. Second, delayed continuation betting is very effective and has a much higher success rate than c-betting, so it's a good way to bluff if your opponents play straightforwardly. I need to work on my strategy a bit and if it is effective I will consider making a CR video and telling everyone my secret!
I've updated my coaching program and you can see my coaching listing at http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/164/cash-game-poker-coach-listings/nlhe-small-stakes-coaching-awesemo-full-stack-cap-1246067/. So far I have four students, and I'm looking for more so that I can still be involved with poker while I'm in the States. I have also been receiving coaching from a CR coach, D_Smith, which is awesome because he has been playing in the games that I'm looking to start making my regular games a while.
