cant win...

Blog by : aj82da6

I just cant win at this game right now. In the last week im on a 12-13 buy in downswing which is the worst one that I think Ive ever had. I didnt even know that it was possible to lose that much at 25NL. There's nothing really to post, just really bad coolers and suckouts. Its just really frustrating to lose 2-3 buyins every single time i sit down and play poker. It justs suck for this happen to right now cuz these few weeks are the best chance for me to get a lot of hours of poker in. Ive been really busy the last month and realy busy the next month, jus bad timing. Ive played 22000 hands so far in may and am down almost 8 buyins for the whole month, which is just ridiculous. Never had a losing month at 25NL but its looking like this might be the first and its not even even like im squeaking below break even. Im just getting rocked. I think im going to take the rest of this week off and maybe start back up next week. I'll probably lose it if i get set over set or flush over flush one more time today. peace.

been awhile

ok so I haven't updated this in months. I moved up to 50NL at the end of Jan and did pretty well. I cashed out like half of my roll for a spring break cruise and some spending money for the rest of the semester. I haven't played all that much the last two months because I have been pretty busy with school. I just graduated a few days ago, yay, and am down to put some hours in and grind back up at 25NL.

I played 2 long sessions today and they were like complete opposites. The first session I played about 2000 hands and won $122.30 which I was really happy about. Then I went out and played 9 holes with some friends and played another 1550 hands, this time losing $106, hitting my 4-buyin stop loss for maybe the second time since i put that in. That put me at a net of $16 profit over 3500 hands on the day, which is pretty dissapointing.

Bigger Hands From First Session:

1. Flop straight against TPTK so good for me, I like the small bet on turn to keep him in given the board texture

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602051

2. I am really confused by this guys line with AA, and am pretty pissed i didnt get everything he had

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602060

3. This was the biggest hand that I lost this session which wasn't really all that big anyways, I just thought that this hand was interesting with everybody flopping so big

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602063

Bigger Hands From 2nd Session:

1. I'll start with a good one from this session, I just thought this hand was pretty funny with what he called down with.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602069

2. I really liked this hand, first of all i think he was bluffing/semibluffing for the most part anyways and was trying to make a play on the flop that conitnued on turn, but even if he had KQ he cant really call this

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602074

3. This hand really hurt, its never fun to lose a 275+ bb pot allin pre with AA vs KK

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602077

4. Im not as sure about this one, maybe im being results oriented. The allin player for 7 dollars was absolutely terrible and we both knew that. Rapsor's flat call is usually reeaalllly strong, but in this spot I didnt have to be, he could easily have a hand like top pair or a draw on that board like KJ or AK. I think the push to isolate is my only real play. Calling seems horribly bad

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602079

5. This is another hand that I found kind of confusing. That ace on the turn is an awful awful card. I guess i still have to push bcuz of the flush draw possibility and the KQ possibilty, but its a real crying push. Im not sure if thats fully correct, but if i check and he either pushes or bets half im in a spot where i cant exactly fold

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602091

6. This guy played absolutely terrible, and he played this hand pretty terrible too. I cant fold this river when I only need to be good 20% of the time

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602094

7. This happened a lot......

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602099

8. I liked how i played this regardless of result, i think hes insane for calling this river and is soooo far behind basically every other instance this would happen.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2602105

lol, going through that second session, of the 7 biggest pots i was in, i lost 6 of them. O well, just have to stay patient, im about 7 buyins below expectation in May thus far, hopefully that will turn around while I still have hair left. good night!

birthday

Blog by : aj82da6

So, todays my birthday and i turned 22. To be honest, its kind of a boring bday. Its really hard to live up to ur 21st and all of crazy shit you did when u could finally go to the bars. Im going to a nice dinner tonight with my two roommates. Its a nice steakhouse called the Capital Grille. They have locations all over the country. Its pretty expensive normally but i have a $100 gift card that i got afew years ago and completely forgot about it. I actually got it as a tip back when i used to deal blackjack for this party company like 2-3 years ago. Somehow it ended up behind my desk and i found it like a few months ago. Im really looking forward to getting abomb steak. Might go out to some bars tonight but might put that off til tom night as i have early class tom morning.

I just got done playing cards for almost an hour and got in like 550 hands 6-tabling. I was up like 30 at one point and then ended up down maybe 7 dollars playing 25NL. I was feeling really jittery and antsy for some reason and really wasnt playing my best, after a failed bluff i decided to call it a day. The bankroll is at about 1300 now and i could maybe start taking shots at 50nl but i think illl just wait til i get up to 1500, which hopefully be done by the end of january. I also want to work on a few more things in my game. Im incorporating more reraising pf and getting used to playing in much bigger pots on the flop. Its working out prettty well so far.

This hand was my biggest loser and the failed bluff i was talking about. For a lil background, i think i was playing 20/18 at this table and was starting to turn up the aggression. Although i was also picking up some good hands. This guy i guess was tired of getting raised out of pots so he called my reraise this time. Preflop for me is standard of course. I make a standard cont bet and he snap calls. Im really putting him on a pocket pair or a flush draw at this point. This guy would pop me on the flop with a set with that draw heavy board, He also called without thinking which makes me think hes not all that strong. From his point of view im just standard continuation betting like i do everytime i 3 bet or raise and is calling in position thinking ill slow down on turn. I put him at best at this point on 99 or TT. I feel anything higher hed pop all in. Turn is a blank for the hands i put him on. I dont do this all that much but i put him in because i honestly didnt think he could call with the majority of his range. He has to put me on a strong hand with a push and would expect me to slow down with anything thats weak. So he calls, i hit my ace which i think wins me the pot, but no... his 2 outer hit the turn. o well

lazy sunday

Blog by : aj82da6
0

Its been a real lazy sunday.., pretty much have just watched football and played some poker. Have played about 1600 already today and i plan on playing some more later tonight. Im up on the day almost 2 buyins, but it has been really swingy, go figure. I figured id post a few of the bigger hands.

1. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1970137

Preflop: This hand was kind of tough. I dont really know too much about bruno but his limp from the cutoff is pretty weak so i decided to isolate him from the button. Pretty standard preflop.

Flop: This flop is about as good as i can ask for. I make a standard continuation bet and am check raised smally.. just a lil more than 2x. i think his range is (AT, KT, QT, JT, T9, 66, most medium to small pairs). I have 67.59 percent equity in this pot to this point. I elected to just smooth call his check raise for two reasons, First, I do have a strong hand and have position on him so I wouldnt have to worry about the hand being checked through on the turn. Second, I want to keep all of the hands in his range that I am ahead of still in and putting money into the pot. If i come over the top and 3-bet,, i feel i am folding out all of the pair possibilities that i want to extract from.

Turn: On the turn he open pushes for $18 into like a $15 dollar pot. Usually an over push is usually the nuts or close to it, especially when it comes on the river, but ive noticed that it also gets used on the turn as a scared play ( though at a lesser rate then strength), trying to end the hand and get me off a pair which i am sure is what he puts me on. Thus, i dont think we can really change is range too much and i still have 67% equity on the turn against this range, so i snapped it off

2. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1970225

Preflop: This is my 4th hand at the table i believe and had no reads on anyone at this point. There were some open limpers so i elected to just limp behind in the cutoff with the 5h5c.

Flop: I flop my set which is great on a Qh5s2h flop. Random leads out for $0.75 into a $1.25 pot. I raised him up in position to $2.75 which is pretty standard. He thinks for a few and overpushes all in. I snap call obv. Getting drawn out on sucks but im more than comfortable getting my money in there with around 75% equity. I thought his flop push was interesting and pretty bad. Im ok with that aggressive play if the pot was a bit bigger, but raising from 2.75 to to 24.50 just cannot be profitable.

3 http://www.pokerhand.org/?1970270

This was my biggest winner..

4. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1970275

Second biggest winner

i dont think theres really too much to go into regarding those 2

Thanks for reading this thing, if u see any flaws in my thought process or have any advice dont hesitate to let me know.

fun game

I put in a lot of hands 6-tabling $25 NL and won about 10 buyins over about 2340 hands. 10 buyins is also my new record for a day though its through a bit more hands then before. This finally broke me even and then put me up for the month which feels good. Since jan 16th ive played almost 6000 hands and am winning at 10.4 PTBB/100. Id like to keep that up for as long as possible. There really isnt too many interesting hands, jus a bunch where i run well.

update

I havent updated this thing in a bit. I didnt play all that much over christmas break. At the beginning of the break i started out hot and then cooled off by the end. I have really been getting my ass kicked lately though. Cooler city, ive lost to so many sets and coolers so far in january its ridic. Its gotten to the point where it doesnt really tilt me anymore so thats good i guess. I think im down something like 8 buyins over 5500+ hands in january so far. While i know alot of it is variance and waht not, figure i should watch some videos tomorrow and see if i notice any leaks that i may have picked up. anyways, im out, hopefully ill have something positive to write next time

good day

Blog by : aj82da6

I had my best day yesterday since I started keeping this blog and playing cash games. I actually put in a lot of volume yesterday about 3x as many hands as i usually do cuz i actually had some time to play. It was nice to see it payoff and make between 8 and 9 buyins.

heres a few of the bigger hands:

1. Here i flop a set and already have a raise and a reraise before the action even gets to me, which is a dream scenario. Ended up getting it in on flop against the nut flush draw.. which hit on river

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1796088

2. lol, this turn was so beautiful

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1796100

3. I decided to take a different line (position min raise with draw) on this flop then usual to mix it up. Turn was beautiful. river was not, but folding isnt an option at that point. If he rivered a full house, then i hate life

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1796101

4. This is your standard 25NL example of overplaying your hand by GamblinAL3

Untitled 1219668330

Blog by : aj82da6

Just had my first final yesterday and i dont have my other one until wednesday so i should be able to get some hands in in the nest week. these are the hands from my last 2 sessions, most of my hands and profit came from the session tonight, got about 1100 hands in which was nice. I also got to play a guy heads up for a significant time when one of my tables broke which i like.

some of the more interesting hands:

1. This is the biggest pot that I have won in awhile. I set over setted this guy for close to a 400 bb pot, pretty lucky situation:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784532

2. This is another pretty lucky situation that happened 5 min later in my heads up match

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784535

3. This guy really overplayed his hand.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784544

4. I think this is pretty standard against a 65 vpip

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784548

5. I thought this was an interesting hand. I remember watching a GP video a lil while ago where he thought this was a good spot for a raise because in this situation he either has it or he doesnt and really cant go any further unless he has the ace or king.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784557

6. This was my biggest loser, I dont think theres really anything i can do here. I am kind of turning my hand into a bluff, but i think im getting called by JJ and maybe TT here,

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784562

7. i really wanted to shove this river, but is play was pretty consistent with a high diamond so after thinking for al il changed my mind

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784569

8. Im not really sure what he was thinking staying with me past the turn or why he would open shove the river, but hey, i guess more power to him

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784573

9. In retrospect i probably shouldnt have floated this flop, but here was my thinking. I figure hes betting out here pretty much everytime so i floated to look to take away on the next street. He checked just like i suspected, and then called. At this point im putting him on a mid pair. River hits my jack and i strongly think he is on a hand like 88 so i bet.. and got snapped off. o well, i dont think it was that bad

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784574

10. standard example of me overplaying QTs. should just check turn next time against a guy in his first hand at the table instead of building such a large pot with a medium strength hand. If he would have called rather than push i would have been in a real tough spot on the river and i really didnt think about that when i fired out.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1784588

anyways, im off to bed, hopefully i can get a lot more hands in this weekend!
