1st in awhile

I've been slacking off on blogging to say the least, but I figured that I may as well write when I feel like it. School starts up on Tuesday and I am actually excited. I enjoy my new major (accounting) and I love to learn more every day. I just moved into a new apartment with my girlfriend and it is WAYYY too small and we think it may have mold in it, which would be amazing because we are looking for a chance to get out of the lease...

On to poker... Yesterday morning I took down my 1st NLHE tourney in a long time (AP days 2 years ago). It was a 1017 person $11 tourney on PS, took it down for $1867, which is my biggest cash to date. That pumped me up a bunch. I have run my account from $400 to almost $4500 in the last few months. I have been playing a bunch of 25plo and MTTs, but now that I have the roll for 50nl and above, I decided to move up to 50nl (I used to play there a year ago before a huge downswing when I had some glaring leaks as well). Today I ran like god, basically. I had 22 vs A5 on A52 flop, QQ vs AQ vs A4 on AQ5 flop, T7cc vs JTo on KQ9ccc flop, etcetcetc. Ended today up 3.5 buyins up in 384 hands, a very promising start.

Til I post again, cheers!

Poker?

Unfortunatly, I have not been able to do much in the way of poker this week at all. College is rearing its ugly head as I am starting to get backed up with homework, tests and early mornings. I have put in a few sessions over the last few days, all pretty much break even. I have mainly been playing on FT this week as I got $50 on there to goof off with, and I am trying to build a real roll with that to go along with my ever-increasing PS roll. So far after 12k hands on PS, im running at 10.67ptbb/100 but on FT after 3k hands i am running at .75ptbb/100 WONDERFUL!

Last weekend I competed in my first adult bowling tourney, I bubbled the money ($150 for cashing) by 6 pins over 8 games. The equivilant of missing the cut in NASCAR for the Nextel Cup by just a few points (for those who don't follow bowling all that much). Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. This weekend I drive out to the middle of North Dakota for anothehr big tournament. I'm hoping to cash this time so I can put the winnings to good use in my poker bankroll.

Tonight is my 1st night off in a LONG time, so I am hoping to put in a 2k hand session tonight.

Here are some hands from yesterday.

In hand 1, KING ME was running 40/28 over 80 hands, he was ridiculously aggressive....hence me checking on a drawy board.

In the 2nd hand, I normally lead out, but for some reason I checked...I think I misplayed it, but the money got in anyways, mainly because the QQ person misplayed their hand pretty bad.

1st blog

Blog by : addilac299

Well, this is my 1st blog here on Cardrunners. I decided to start this blog in hopes that one day I can look back on this and see my progression (or regression ) as a poker player.

A little bit of background on me: My name is Adam, and I live in Fargo, ND. I am 21 and I go to college at North Dakota State University. After spending my 1st 3 years studying to become a mechanical engineer, I got sick of it and just recently transferred over to the accounting program.

As for poker? Well...I got my start playing with my friends growing up, the usual little $5 tournies. Once I got to college, I played dorm games that usually were .10/.25 cash games, but sometimes played up to .50/1 cash games. I made a killing in those games, then decided to put some money on to RoyalVegasPoker. I turned a $50 deposit into 5k (playing mainly 2/4 limit hold'em) then cashed it all out because I got scared I'd lose it all. Then I found Absolute Poker and did quite well there playing strictly small tournies (I had no aspiration to become a 'pro') and had quite a lot of success. Eventually I made the move to Pokerstars where I currently spend almost all of my online time.

In the past I have had a bunch of success with small buy-in tournies ($10 and less). My bread and butter was (and still is) omaha tournies. But I wanted more. Cash games were never really my forte, so I decided to make the investment into Cardrunners and start from scratch. It was my goal this time to make progression to the higher levels so I can pull in a real income. I took out everything but $300 dollars and started off at 10NL. My goal is to play until both requirements are met before I move up: 40k hands (20k at the 10NL since I'm not as worried about that level) and at least 30 buy-ins at the next level.

So far, since Jan 1, I have logged in almost 13k hands, have had a 9.5ptbb/100 and have pulled in $245 profit. I need to run reeeal well if I want to make my 30 buyins to 25NL by the end of the 20k hands!

I hope to be able to post stuff about my life and my poker on this blog, maybe throw in a few hands from recent sessions that I thought I played great or horrible.

Here was a hand I played last night that was my fav I think.

He was a very aggressive player running at 24/20 over a short selection of hands (125). I chose to just call for set value preflop. The turn gave me a gutshot as well as overs. I chose to just call his bet since I was in position and see how he bet the turn. The turn gave me my set, and with him firing again, I was very certain he had an overpair. Raising might scare him away so I chose to instead call and shove the river. Sure enough he V-bet the river, I shove and he shows QQ.
