I flopped quads twice last night in a live game at the Venetian.

Seriously, I've never had anything remotely close to that happen. I put pictures of both of them on my blog. http://www.nealmason.com/poker/ is the direct link to them.

Sadly, I was only playing 1-2 with my roommate. So I only won 350 in the game...

Hand of the day, yesterday Venetian 2-5

I didn't have anything really interesting happen yesterday at the tables. I played at the Venetian poker room for a while and it was loaded with a bunch of tournament players.(a good thing) The table I got seated at was over aggressive and completely donkish, with your mix of calling stations in there as well. Typical tournament players, they were also sitting on some pretty deep stacks which they have no idea how to play. Anyways, I got no cards and no flops in my favor really for most of the night and was about even when this hand happened.

A young asian lady sat down two seats to my right and preceded to raise it to thirty dollars before the flop three hands in a row after posting her blinds in middle position. She was under the gun the fourth time she did it and the guy on my right (calling station, blufftard) called and I was dealt pocket eights. We were seven handed and I thought about re-raising her, as she only had $250 left, and I'd be happy to get it all in with her. I opted to just call and possibly bring along some others and hit a big flop where I could maybe stack some of the tourna-donks. We got just one more caller on the button (British guy getting a massage, who was a calling station as well).

The flop came out 762 on a monotone flop. She says "same bet" and bets out $30. The player to my right folds, I decide this is a very weak bet and she is unlikely to have much here. Typically my hand is not very strong here, and should be thrown away facing action in a multi-way pot. This was not one of those instances. I raised to $100, the British guy folded and it comes back around to her and she instantly calls. The turn pairs the 6 and she bets $100 at me with about $23 behind. I decide if she had me beat then she would have put it in on the flop so I just put her all in. She calls and says "ace king" so this means I am ahead and only have to dodge an Ace or a King on the river. the river was a blank 3 of clubs and I scoop it up.

There were really no other interesting hands that I played yesterday.

Blog by : acem

I put this hand up on my personal blog www.nealmason.com I was killing time waiting for friends to come over to watch football. Who says the games online are dying??? This table was 70/15 vpip/pfr.

BB ($358.20)
UTG ($200)

CO ($74)
Button ($161.75)

Preflop: Hero is MP with Qh, Qc, 3c, 9d.
1 fold, Hero raises to $7, CO calls $7, Button calls $7, 1 fold, BB calls $5.

Flop: ($29) 6s, Qd, Tc (4 players)
BB bets $2, Hero raises to $33.55, CO calls $33.55, Button calls $33.55, BB calls $31.55.

BB bets $2, Hero raises to $158.75, CO calls $33.45 (All-In), Button calls $121.20 (All-In), BB calls $156.75.

River: ($635.35) 8c (4 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $635.35

Results below:

Seat 2: 90/5 fish (big blind) showed [4d Ts Td Ks] and lost with three of a kind, Tens
Seat 3: nit folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: hero showed [Qh Qc 3c 9d] and won ($632.35) with a flush, Queen high
Seat 5: short stack mucked [9h 5s 7s 8s]
Seat 6: moron calling station (button) mucked [4h Jc 6c Th]

Both of the big stacks were drawing dead on the turn lol. I love poker. How bad was the guy's play on the flop with bottom two???

Drunken Las Vegas debauchery and a surprisingly well thought out 2-5 hand

Blog by : acem

For pics and the full story (or till I blacked out before the strip club) check out my personal blog at www.nealmason.com

I was at the Palms poker room playing 2-5 no limit holdem with a 200-1k buyin. The hand in question happened like this.

In the hand in question I have the table covered (I have more $ than anyone in play so am playing whatever they have in front of them at the time)

The table is ten handed. Joe Awada (a very aggressive fast player who has won some tv tournaments) is under the gun in seat 10 and raises to $15 he has around $340 total. I am in seat 3 (middle position on this hand) and reraise him to $40 with KQ of hearts. (this is an isolation raise to get the pot heads up against Joe because he was making these $15 raises with any two cards. I get cold called by a very solid high stakes player two to my left. I put him squarely on JJ, TT, or AK he had around $450 in front of him. It folds around to Joe who calls.

The flop is Qd 8h 4s, Joe checks, I bet $75, solid player to my left thinks for a while then calls and Joe immediately shoves in. At this point I believe I have Joe beat because he was in a gambling mood and I think he sensed weakness from the guy on my left (I sensed medium strength from him and figured I was way ahead of him or way behind him) I thought for a long while and decided that if I call Joe's bet the solid player would have to lay down AQ (if he has it) as well as he would easily fold TT or JJ... if he has 88, QQ or KK he's going to shove over top of me and I would have folded and saved my $110 dollars more. I end up calling forcing the player on my left to fold all but monster hands as there are no draws out there. He shows AQ of spades and throws it in the muck. (he was 100% correct to do this in this spot too, this is why I called versus this guy as I knew he was a strong player) His only mistake in the hand was calling the isolation re-raise pre-flop being in a sandwich between two very aggressive players (Joe and I).

Once he folds, the turn is a brick 7c and 2h on river. Joe says "I have a pair" which means he knows he is beaten so I just table my KQ and scoop up the $700+ pot. Now if only I could beat him at horses and football side bets I would be happy. I liked everyone's play in this hand except their loose play pre-flop. The post flop play was phenomenal and there were multiple levels at work here between three thinking players. This is not something that happens every day at a 2-5 game.

After that I went out with my friends to all the clubs at the Palms then the strip club. For more details and pics check out my blog at www.nealmason.com

I'm going to try to update this regularly with my live poker play

Blog by : acem

I play professionally in Las Vegas in the low/mid stakes games. I will try to start updating on here as well as my new personal blog www.nealmason.com Once I figure out how to use this software as well as my personal blog I will start putting up pics. Right now it's a work in progress so just check back here or my personal blog. If you want to just skip to the poker section of my blog here is the link for that. www.nealmason.com/poker/

Here is a picture of Tito Ortiz sitting across the table at a juicy 2/5 game that I was in at the Hard Rock. This is the kind of stuff I will be posting in my poker section.

Crap I can't get it to upload right... anyways, pics on my blog. I will figure this out later.

I win.

I really wish I could put some hands up but I don't have the patience to find a hand converter. Maybe later. Regs on stars are A+ imo. I didn't really play at all on Monday so I lumped that short session in here. I made a stupid play and just shut it down after giving a guy without a fold button 60 bucks or something.

Games were good, I ran hot like the Sun. GG donks on stars. If someone could tell me how to post hand histories I would appreciate it. I'm hungry so we are going to get a beer and some wings from the Yard House. I highly recommend it.

Update

Blog by : acem

I finally got pt3 to work. I am upset that I don't have my old db from pt2 but whatever. So my wife quit her job to go to school full time and we've both been really slacking lately. I haven't been putting the hours in that I need to be for playing full time. I am trying to remedy this. So here is what I've done since I got to pt3. I will try to update this blog more frequently and post some hands when I get time.
