This is my first blog entry ever. I just joined Card Runners and I play a boatload of online poker every week....actually just about every day. I have a pretty good day job as well and poker is my hobby. I am fairly private and only a few non-poker players know that I play online poker......so I thought this might be a good place for me to start keeping a journal of some type describing my online poker experiences with other people who might be able to relate to it.
Like I said earlier, I play just about every day and probably 40 hours a week. I love it, but really don't have much of a life outside of poker and work. I generally play 1-2, 2-4, 3-6, and 5-10 NL and usually 2 tables at once. I've taken some shots as high as 25-50NL, but that has not worked out well for me. I used to be horrible with bankroll management and lost alot in 2006. 2005 was my first year playing and I lost a bit that year too. 2007 was my first winning year. Things started clicking for me last Labor Day weekend when I ran $70 up to $10,000 that weekend. 2 weeks later I had it up over $30,000 and cashed out $10,000. I then resorted to my old poor bankroll management issues, took a few bad beats, and lost about $20,000 in about 2 weeks. I actually lost most of it in 2 days when I played too late on the weeknights when I had to work the next day and too high (2 tables of $5-$10NL).
I've won every week since then....averaging about $3,000 a week. I'm on the hottest streak of my life and am hoping that it continues. It's funny, I probably could have benefited from Card Runners alot more about a year ago. The main reason I joined is really to get the perspectives of some of the top online players and learn their thought process. Since I'm on such a hot streak, I'm a little hesitant to change my style which is a lot different from what I've seen from the CR pros. Still, I learn from their videos and I like to hear the thought process. It helps.
Not sure if anybody will read this, but I'll probably start posting my weekly results.
Good luck.
