new machine

i just got a new macbook pro, 17 inch 1920x1200 screen , 4 gigs ram, 7200 rpm hard drive, the works, and man it is great for eight tabling. i was tired of six tabling with significant overlap and now i do 8-10 tables no overlap no problem and its real fast and snappy and everything and its nice.

i have made a couple trips to foxwoods, taking this bus that leaves out of the chinatown boston that costs $12. its a nice bus and they play hong kong soap operas on the way there. and when you arrive they give you $40 in match play even money bets and a $15 store/cafe/restaurant comp. so guaranteed profit. also, they have this lounge with fast wi fi so you can bring your macbook pro and eight table.

and the foxwoods room is real nice, very spacious and they spread lots of different games at medium limits, shit like $75-150 S.H.O.E. haven't seen plo spread but that's probably for the best, haha, i still suck at plo. anyway, I'm anxious to play in the mix games and see how good i can do in them, though it does feel weird to feel so busto on the way to the casino and back sitting next to all the slot machine grannies. (I dont have a car)

online is going well, i'm playing on stars and ft and for once have decent money on both. this might sound dumb but I'm a big fan of switching sites when you're running bad on one of them and/or you have cashed out on one of them.

hopefully june will be a big month. i'm thinking about heading to macau figuring all the good players will be in lv trying to win jewelry... check out this thread:

notice that you can earn fpp credits in that room, weird.

well, I stopped downswinging a ton at plo and now am running alright. I took a week off to beat gta iv. and ive had a bunch of other side projects going on, so i haven't played much. but im in a real good mood because my preference for multiple echeck cashouts over bank wires (because my bank makes it a hassle and i dont need the money right away anyway) worked out. see bottom.

my poker results are definitely nothing to brag about so i wont post those, haha. I have been playing nlhe, plo, and stud hilo and sometimes one of each of those at the same time which is probably not the best idea but a lot of fun. in a whole month of playing it i dont think the lineup in the stud 8 game (10-20 and 30 60) has been even moderately juicy once. plo has been kicking my ass a fair bit too but ive made the money back at nlhe. but geez nlhe regs are so on average good these days, thanks a lot cr.

there are times when you aren't catching any flops at plo and then you end up getting it in real marginal and look like an idiot. the way i play i often feel obligated to salvage my image or to put it another way take advantage of a nitty image that i got by raising and then check folding the flop so much by cr'ing or barreling a little looser. but im now thinking that image considerations just aren't as important in that game, maybe at the higher limits i dont know. i have a greater appreciation for nlhe now as you have more flexibility in the lines you can take. its still the best game to get a bad players money imo.

I went to atlantic city last week and being a huge rounders fan back in the day I immediately knew i wanted to stay at the taj mahal and eat at the noodle bar. when I got there i was pleasantly surprised to see middle limit stud running and jumped in a $40-80 game. unfortunately the structure was terrible (relatively small antes) and all the players were competent and nitty and knew each other thus they were paying extra attention to me. I was certainly rusty too and feel fortunate to only have lost a little bit.

had to leave early for boston and my buddys mba graduation but i will definitely hit up the borgata next time, i hear its the shit.

ok ok ok i admit it, this entry was just an excuse for me to show off this picture:

i love pokerstars

hope some of you guys ran good on your cashouts as well.

expect another update in like two months

so far so good

nice to run good, gotta keep grinding and hope for a big month.

the big thing for me has been getting on somewhat of a schedule for poker. my lifestyle has been all over the place until just a week ago, and i think it was messing with my results. my A game doesnt start right away when i sit down, usually takes a half hour. but when my schedule is off and i have other things on my mind i find myself raising and 3betting four out of every five hands and then getting myself into a bunch of super marginal situations in bloated pots postflop. since the month started i have been sleeping and eating better, trying to stay away from big meals that leave me groggy for hours after eating and keeping the late nights to a minimum.

let me introduce myself better, i'm abc015. i live in sf but i travel a lot for fun. i used to play lots of limit holdem, then nlhe, now while travelling i take my macbook and play plo when i feel like it. i play a lag style and the bigger action is what attracts me to the game... i consider myself at beginner-intermediate level because im definitely spewing a lot in spots. but whereas when I tried to play lag in nlhe i got absolutely murdered i seem to do alright when its plo. and frankly i dont really know how to play solid properly in plo despite watching stinger and andrew doing it in their videos. im sure i would do quite worse if i was forced to play nine handed all the time.

eventually i want to be cool like gordo16 and play lots of high stakes hu plo, which has got to be the most fucked up way to make a living ever... can't imagine that kind of variance on a day to day basis... but im in no rush.

right now im in between travels but will probably head to asia by the end of the month. yeah, I could have so easily run bad the last session and not felt like updating, haha. if you dont hear from me again for a while that will probably be the reason. : )

i play plo

check this graph out, i was at the +$3k about 35-40 hours ago.

about 20 percent of that was tilt. but whatever. im going to play so much poker this year that its like a little blip.

I rejoined cardrunners because my credit card expired last year and i was lazy to renew. but after running bad like this and after a break from poker for travelling asia i figure i might be a little rusty and need to watch some videos and get some perspective. so here i am again!
