Airport somberness

Blog by : Zaitsev

I'm sitting at the airport with my hopes and dreams crushed. I'm disappointed in myself knowing that I could have done better. I would not care if I played my absolute best and came up short, but I got to the big stage and choked. As you can probably tell, I'm out of the main event, and I'm pissed. I made one major mistake and couldn't recover.

4 limpers in the pot, I pick up AQ in the BB and raise it to 700 at 50-100 blinds, 300bb effective. Young bad player calls, Old dude calls and I've seen him call basically any 2 suited. Flop comes AJ6hhh, I cbet 1500, young bad player folds, old dude calls. Turn Q, I have Qh, I bet 2000, Old dude calls. River, is a 4, I bet 3000 trying to get worse aces to call, he raises to 12k, and I puke in my mouth. Obvioiuisly the only bluffs he can have here are like Khx, but in reality, all of his Khx, is always suited. Because he'll never have a hand like K2o in this spot. Unfortunately, I made a major mistake in thinking he somehow was drawing to a K high flush when how can he ever have that draw? I made a terrible call and he shows K3hh. This pretty much left me with like 13 or 14k. And after that I lost flush over flush for another monster pot, and utg+3 or 4 opens and I reship 66 with like 18bb, and sb calls with QQ. 6 in the window............ Q on whatever the third card is called. And that's my main event.

Vegas was a blast, but I'm ready to be home. I miss my own bed, I miss my computer, I miss my monitor, I miss internet poker, I miss my gf, I miss my puppy, I miss not eating like complete crap. I'm excited for the future. I want to be a 5/10 reg by the next time I'm in vegas. I'm gonna work hard, and succeed. I feel like my mindset has changed. I didn't tilt once in vegas. I didn't tilt when I lost QQ to QJ, AA to AJ, I came back the next day and played the best 11bb poker I could. I didn't tilt when I lost QQ to T7hh aipf for an 1800 dollar pot. I'm opening up my poker world. I'm learning hu, and will learn some plo. I like playing hu b/c it's different and a change. 2010 has been going well so far, lets keep it up!

Selling last minute ME action

Blog by : Zaitsev
0

I've been playing a lot of live cash and tournaments this summer, and I feel like I have a pretty considerable edge over these guys. This is also the best structure and softest field so I'm really looking forward to playing it. I need to sell 50% more of myself in order for me to play the ME. Let me know if you are interested. I'm selling at 1.25 markup.

1% - 125
5% - 625
10% - 1250

Here is my 2p2 link also. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/163/staking-selling-shares/revised-cardrunners-guest-pro-selling-me-1-25-markup-820033/

2500 6m made it to day 2. I want to throw up.

I have 11.8k chips after losing QQ vs. QJ aipf for a 40k pot, then the last hand of the night, I pick up AA on my button, SB ships AJ, flop KT9, turn Q. Lost another 32k pot. I'll post a full update later, lots of crazy shit happening. I played very very well all day. Atleast I'm still in it. GL ME TOMORROW.

Edit: I need to go into tomorrow with a positive attitude. No more whining, I got 10bbs and I'm gonna play my best. I fought back several times today with 10bbs. GO GOGOGOGOGO

Busted. First WSOP trip report.

Blog by : Zaitsev
0

Well, the first tournament was really fun, but also brutally disappointing. I was playing extremely well at my first 5 tables, and picked up a ton of small pots and just slowly built up my stack to 125bb. I want to talk briefly about my hands.

Hand 1:

Button seemed fairly tight except on the button, and JUST sucked out KK vs. AA the previous hand. I think this is very important information. Anyway, he opens 2.2x otb, blinds are 100/200 25 ante and I have a 125bb stack, and I call with K9s. Flop comes 966ss, He cbets 525 into around 1k, and I c/r him to 1.2k planning to get the money in. But he 3b shoves for 6.6k on top. This guy definitely isn't a big enough stud to ever be pure bluffing here especially since he just sucked out KK vs. AA the previous hand. I feel that 99% of players tendencies are to play more cautiously because they feel like they dodged a bullet. Anyway, I misplayed my hand b/c I didn't raelize how many chips he freaking had left. I thought he had 3-4k, but I should have known b/c he just won a pot and I should have paid attention to his stack size. I was trying to think if he would value shove a worse 9 there, and I'm not sure he would. Anyway I called and he had TT.

Hand 2:

Same table, maybe 10 hands after the previous hand. My table image is terrible, I've been playing very loose aggressive preflop, and basically been taking a big dump on my table. This guy to my direct left, I think was a good tournament player, but I didn't know who the fuck he was. Anyway, he opens UTG and I call MP with ATdd, sb, and bb both call. Flop is AK8ss, he cbets and I call, other two fold. He checks a 2s turn. I bet 1/3 pot for protection He calls. At this point I think my hand is no good. I tihnk he a lot of times has AQ AJ when he c/c here. River comes the Qs. At this point I think my hand is never good so I decide to turn it into a bluff. But I really felt at this point, my image was so bad that I'm not sure if two pair will fold. Anyway, pot is around 5k on the river, and I fire off 3k as a bluff. And I get SNAP called by A8 no spade. I think most of the time it's good to bluff here, but I think my image may have been terrible here.

Hand 3:

Just a massive cooler. Flush over flush. I open from the c/o with 97ss. Flops is K83ss. I cbet, and I get like 2.2x c/red. Turn 6s. He shoves, I snap. He has KJss. I lose about 8k here.

Hand 4:

So after about these 3 hands I've gone from 25k to like 5kish. I have ansky on my direct right. Blinds are 150/300 25 ante. A fairly young woman opens from MP to 725, she seems fairly competent, and had a massive stack at the table. Ansky calls SB and I pick up JQhh in the BB. I'm not really sure what I have done here preflop. I felt like Ansky's SB calling range had no hands that would fold to a 15bb reshove I think he's calling pocket pairs KQ AJ and probably some JTs type hands. So I called 425 more to see a flop and pretty much get it in if I hit a piece. Flop comes 678r, ansky checks I check, lady checks. Turn J, ansky leads into the pot, I shove 4k left, woman comes back over the top. And I'm like great, I'm drawing dead. Ansky folds, and she has KJ and I'm out.

I think I played hand 1 and 2 very poorly. I'm not sure at all what I should have done in hand 4. I really had a legit chance to go deep here, but made mistakes.

All in all, I had a very fun good experience in my first event. Hopefully I will take what I have learned and go deep in the 2.5k 6m next week. I was very underwhelmed by the "famous" poker players that I saw. I expected that I would be more in awe, but I felt like they were just like me grinding away.

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK

Blog by : Zaitsev

Wow what a shaky career this poker thing has been. 2009 was absolutely awful. I was plagued from tilt, denial, and self doubt. I came off 2008 on top of the world, became a cr pro, and well respected. Then 2009 hit, and it was absolute destruction. I was barely in the black in 2009. I was running bad, but I was also in denial about how well I was playing, and tilt got the best of me. All the douchebags who didn't know me calling me out, "how is this guy a pro??????" etc. etc. It sucked, it hurt, my mentality was fucked.

I wasn't immune to that type of criticism, and things just started to spiral. I doubted my plays, I was beginning to hate poker, my financial situation was looking very bad. I got defensive of everything I did. My stress level was through the roof. The only thing that really kept me going was my students believing in what I had to teach, my poker group which is now called the geek squad, my coach, and those special people who got my back, they know who they are, and I'm so appreciative of them.

On to the good times:

2010 has been significantly better. I had to grind 100nl to pay the bills that was not easy. I used a large portion of my roll to pay for coaching(best thing I've ever done). But I got by, and in March I started taking shots back at 200nl. I put a lot of work into my game and I am seeing some great results. It's really crazy how an amazing coach can turn your shit around. I am excited for the future, am loving poker again, and hopefully 2010 is going to be the 2009 that I had hoped it would be.
