Since my last entry I have had four sessions of about 1K-1.5K hands each session. I have focused on playing the best poker I can and avoiding tilt, which I feel is the biggest leak in my game.
I have tried to keep tilt at bay by reminding myself of how bad most players actually play and those bad plays are what lead to my profits, so there is no need to add to my loses by tilting; since I know a big pot my way is around the corner.
I find the play at the 2-4NL still has massive leaks and I try to avoid small edge situation as much as possible because most of the time players are giving me such huge edges that there is no need to take a high risk with smaller ones. I definitely adjust the edge I'm willing to take dependent on the player, if I feel the player is very exploitable then, I will give up many marginal situations; on the other hand if I find the player to be strong then obviously I will have to take any edge that is given. In general this is the mentality I have been going into my sessions with.
Here is a recap on my last four sessions. Session 1) I felt I played very well, probably the best poker I could have played, however three of the biggest pots of the sessions went the wrong way. One was due the fact that my set was beat by the villains set with better kicker. I actually lost the minimum on this hand. I was small blind and the villain was big. I decided to try to keep the pot small by calling the whole way since my kicker was small and the villain was a very aggressive player.
The other two were $800 pots, one I had AA re-raised the villain pre 4 times, he calls, the flop is all low cards but possible draws. I raise big, he goes all-in, I call, villain show set of 2. The last pot I had a set of Kings but got outdrawn by a flush. Even though I lost these hands I was only down about $200, so I felt I minimized my losses well.
The other two sessions were even, but my last session I went up 1.4K. Things just started to hold up again, thank God!!! My role is now about 10.5K
