LEaks

After playing some HU and watching some videos, I think I have done a good job of figuring out a couple things that will instantly improve my bottom line. After going through two months of running and playing bad, I can no longer blame all my losses on bad luck. I think there are a lot of simple things I can do that will significantly help my 6 max game, that I have really been able to see through HU. I was cbetting way way too much, and never continuing with out a hand. SO SO Exploitable. As a result i need to cbet less, double barrell good turn cards and classify my opponents so I know when I have a better chance of succeeding. This is not complicated stuff but its easy to see why I was getting so frustrated and why I was losing. Alos If i could find the fold button with good to very good hands against nitty regs who are willing to stack off, it hink that would help too. By employing some simple counter strategies I think I will once again start seeing the results IM used too. Thats it for now.

first week of summer

I have been pretty happy with the first week of summer. I had a really good time with my brother in LA and had fun driving back home with Molly. The first week of poker has not been as nice. I think there has been a lot of rust, definitaley some beats, and just general bad play on my part. The downswings and varience have been tough but I think Ive emerge as a better player, working on playing more disciplined and making smarter folds rather than impetuous calls. I expect to see some solid progress in my next 5-10k hands, but for now, this is the start--unfortunately:

School's over

I took my last final last friday and packed up and went to my brother's house for a couple of days before I drive home for summer. In the last two days, I put in 1k hands and plan to put in about 3k or more over the next few. Ive been running really good and unfortunately I dont think Ive been maximizing the profit, but Im a little rusty so I suppose that is to be expected. I hit 3 sets today in only 300 hands and I flopped quads yesterday and checked the flop and turn until the guy boated up on the river and 3bet shoved--pretty fun. In general I plan on playing a little more straight forward. Im also going to be experimenting a little bit on bet and raiae sizes (almost pot, 3/4 pot ect).I went on a very nice run today and did a few sprints afterwords and feel very good about it. I plan on hitting the driving range tomorrow or the next day to continue to work on my new swing while playing some poker in between and going for some runs. On another note, I saw Iron Man and wasn't expecting a whole but it turned out to be pretty good, I would definitly recommend it. Thats about all for now, I'll recap my poker hands once i hit 5k hands this week.

First Blog

I've really enjoyed reading other poker players' blogs so I decided to start blogging myself. School is winding down and I am taking advantage of the time off to start playing some poker. One of the things that I think is a good idea for a first blog entry is to outline some goals--that way I can focus the blog around how my attempts at achieving those goals are going. Summer Goals: Continue to work on being disciplined and playing with a long term mindset--this includes avoiding tilt issues, accepting variance and consistently evaluating my game rather than just going through the motions. PRIMARY: Win ~10k over the summer Secondary: Move up to 200nl and achieve a consistent win rate a significant hand range. Play 60k hands? I don't really have a good grasp on hand numbers Become a winner at PLO and HU NLHE Other: Mostly I hope that I get a little experience in the job/internship market, so that I can be better prepared next summer. Hoping that I don't get an internship offer, I plan on spending as much time as I can being productive, which is essentially my main goal for the summer. Productivity for me means taking advantage of the time that I have like really improving my golf game, getting in great shape for soccer season and making sure that my touch and mental game are ready for the fall season. Im sure Ill take care of having enough leisure time to wakeboard and fish too. That's it for now Ill post some graphs a after my next 5k hands or so, with some interesting hands.
