Return!

0

I'm back! I decided to make my return to blogging today. Here's a quick overview of what has happened the past 6 months since I stopped blogging. In June of 08, I moved up to 200nl. I started off well and quickly made 20 buyins. Then the inevitable happened, I lost 5 buyins in one session, which is about $1000! 5 buyins is not considered a lot but for some reason that losing session really bothered me. I knew I played terrible and was really hard on myself for letting that happen. I took a short break, came back, and played some 100nl to regain my confidence. Well, that didn't go well. I went on a 100k hand breakeven stretch.

In September, I went back to school. School took up a lot of time. I was lucky to get in 25k hands a month. I played 100nl with mediocre success. Fast forward to January, I now have a semester off since I have to wait until September to transfer into the finance program at the University of Calgary. In January, I tired something different. I 9 tabled 100nl. At the end of the month, 50k hands later, I was at where I started plus $1300 in stars cash bonuses. Pretty disappointed.

It wasn't all bad, I learned a lot in January. Starting February, I cut down the number of tables I play to < 6. I also focused on improving my non-showdown winnings (a.k.a redline). The redline is so important. On almost all of my previous graphs there has been a strong correlation between my redline and my winnings. I will certainly talk about this topic more in future posts.

So anyways, I've been rather busy this month going to the gym, playing hockey, and hanging out with my friends/girlfriend that I haven't played as much as I would have liked to. On the positive side, I have some free time in the coming days that I hope to put in a good number of hours and finish up the month strong. So far the month has been really good and with the limited amount of hands I've played I'm up about $2500 not including stars bonuses. Thepost has gotten pretty long so I will leave it there but will update later with today's session.
