Somthing Baffling...

0

Ok, I still have been playing a lot of home poker games. Last saturday I won about $100ish and last night I had a very swingy night but still managed to squeeze a $40 profit after I stopped playing stupid. But Something came to my attention last night when some of my friends made a comment about a certain hand that I played.

Hero(Button): AcTc

raise to $2, big blind calls and one limper calls

Flop: 4h8sAh

Hero bets 4, big blind calls, limper moves all-in, Hero calls, BB folds

*******Ok, here is my read. Most of the people at the game that night MIGHT limp with weak Ace, but would definately raise with AJ and up. Big blind just flat called my raise on the flop which could mean that he has an ace or was on a flush draw. The limper who went all in, I was almost 100% positive that he was on the flush draw because he would never shove on the flop if he had two pair or something because he would wanna get value from me. But before I made the call I realized that big blind was unlikely to have an Ace and more likely on the heart draw as well. So I just decided to flat call the $30 all in hoping that the big blind might come in as well and they both can go draw for the few outs that are left. But big blind folds****

Hero shows: AcTc

Villain shows: Kh8h

Turn: 8

River: blank

Ok, I ended up losing the hand. But I think definately made an awesome read and definately the right call, but villain ended up hitting a 2 outter on me which was fine (its poker, it happens). But the thing that troubled me the most was when a couple of my close friends who I consider to be somewhat pretty good players berated me for making the call. The were like "oh I cant believe you made an $30 call with JUST AT", "Even if I knew you knew he was a flush draw you should have folded"

I was absolutely baffled when they scolded me about making an absolutely good call. For some reason they think a flush draw was worth more than an already made hand in that situation. I just dont understand how they could say I made a bad call. it seems that ever since I started taking poker seriously and really started to study the game, I have been making some really good plays in some of the games that I play, I often get rediculed by some of my friends even when I win the pot. Such as this:

Hero(button): 9s3s

Everyone lmps, mid postion raises to $2, CO calls, I raise to $7

***this was at a point in the night where I felt like I was in the matrix and making sick reads all around. When everyone limped and middle position made a $2 raise, I knew everyone was weak and the raiser had an Ace at most. So I pop it up to $7 to represent a high pocket and just expected everyone to fold. Everyone does fold except for the original raiser. He is kind of a pre-flop calling station because he ended up calling me with AT*****

Flop: 63T

I bet out $10, villain calls

Turn: bland

I bet out $20, villain folds

So I ended up showing everyone my genius bluff and everyone at the table busted out laughing and couldn't believe I was bluffing. But the same friend who scolded me earlier was like "whatever, if he wants to play stupid like that let him play that way" It just so insulting to hear something like that after making what I felt was the absolute right play at the time.

Has anyone else ever had any similar type of situation happen to them?

Bankroll: $1400ishhh
