It seems like every once in awhile, I get into a rut where I just don't get much of anything accomplished.
Maybe it's because I've been sick a lot lately, and it's also probably partially due to the poker lifestyle in general and having few actual responsibilities or commitments, and additionally my laziness probably plays a role into how I feel right now.
I think one of the problems is that I stay up too late at night, and consequentially sleep in too late the next day. So, it's going to become my goal to be to bed by 2 or 3 a.m. every night unless there's extenuating circumstances, and up by 10 or 11 a.m. the next day. It's much easier to get things accomplished during the day if I have 10-12 "open" store hours to work with, rather than 3 or 4.
Also, before I go to bed, I think I need to make a list of 2-4 things I want to get done the next day, along with the time range that I'll do it. Presently, I keep a mental list of dozens of things in my head, yet never attach any sense of urgency to any of the tasks because very few of them are time sensitive. So, I just keep them all in the back of my mind, knowing I need to do them at some point, but never actually get around to it. By making a list and specifying a time, I'm forcing myself to be accountable.
Finally, I should really start to devote a couple days a week towards volunteer work. Doing so would be good for the community and good for me since it would help give my life a little more structure.
Take today: I finally got up at 3 p.m., and woke up thinking I'd spend today trying to track down a Wii somewhere in the Twin Cities area. I also thought I'd go purchase a microphone for my computer so I can be closer to being ready to make videos for CR. So, I get out of bed, go on the computer, and see a Stars $200/400 game is going that looks good. So I decide to play that, and then the game gets down to 3-handed, and then one of the two opponents quits. The other opponent plays me HU for 15 minutes, wins like $8000 off of me, and then he too quits, while saying, "I shouldn't have been playing you in the first place, but I was tilting." Well, thanks. I'm big into HU ethics, and my view is he should keep playing till he either loses back close to all of that $8000 (or we play for a considerable longer time period than 15 minutes), or until I quit or tell him I am ok with him quitting. Anyway, so then I was angry and opened up the $100/200 tables (I don't usually play $100/200 unless I'm super bored) and played two of those until I won $7500 (the amount I was down in $200/400), and quit even.
That brings us to 6 p.m., and I've still done nothing with the day. Then I showered, and walked around my new neighborhood, first going inside the area Electronic Boutique (to find out they don't have any Wiis), and then getting a chicken quesadilla from Burrito Loco, and walking back home to eat it. Finish that, turn on the second half of the Twins game and watch that while typing this blog, and here we are for the day. I'm going to basically sacrifice tonight and go to bed by midnight, and maybe play a little more poker.
Tomorrow, I want to do the following: set up my bank account to auto pay house payments and gas/energy bills, verify my association fees are already set to autopay, return hamburger to Lunds because of their callback on beef, go to the store and get a computer microphone, get a new furnace filter, and if there is time look around some more stores for a dining table. I want to have all of these things done by 5 p.m., because I'm going to happy hour with some friends. After happy hour festivities, back here to play some poker and fiddle around with making poker videos. Also by the end of tomorrow I want to have either found a new Wii in stores around here, or else ordered one online.
Haha don't worry I'm not going to regularly start typing out my upcoming day's plan in here. This is just a one-time thing to try to kick myself into gear. If any of you other online pros can relate to or have any additional ideas about the things I've said above, let me know in the comments.
Anyway, no actual poker hands of content for today's blog; only a brag! Today was the first time I can recall getting two straight flushes in the same session (and winning big pots with both!)
