I've had sleep issues for a long time now, though recently it feels like it's been worse than normal. Either I'm awake and feel fatigued/tired, or I try to sleep and then my body denies me from doing so for longer than 3-4 hours. Today I slept from about 12:30 to 4:45 in the morning, and I think I'm going to try to tough it out until a reasonable bed time tonight. The crappy sleep schedule lately and not feeling 100% physically because of it, in addition to me recently being on a small downer in the poker games, has made me not play too many hands the past 5ish days. I'm hoping to wait this out more and hopefully get better rest, and then go back to crushing the games.
This weekend I saw Charlie Wilson's War and thought it was really good, though I'm fairly liberal and I think liberals would be more likely to leave the movie feeling that way. One question I do have though is: what is the real truth regarding American/Afghanista/Soviet relations in the 80s. I seem to recall learning in history classes a slightly different version of the events portrayed in the movie. The version of history I learned portrayed America as for a long time giving the mujaheden just enough help so that they could somewhat stave off the Soviets, with the basic goal of our foreign policy being one which hoped those two sides would pound eachother as long as possible without either side gaining ground. This movie seems to not be nearly as bleak, and presents our efforts as one that went from minimalist, to exceptional.
This morning while lying awake in bed, I watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang for the first time. Awesome movie, though I'm angry I have no recourse against Best Buy... I bought it on dvd maybe a month ago or so, and when I opened the box noticed that the DVD had been sliding around a lot in it... So anyway, this morning while watching, in two different scenes the movie stopped working because of (likely) a scratched disc.
During the Packers/Giants football game, I did play a session and won $3600 total during it. I'm happy with this because I feel like I was on the bad end of a lot of coolers/beats, and rarely on the good end.
Here is 1 hand (cooler) where I wonder if I could've saved a bet or not called on the river:

Here is another hand (beat) that looks kind of fishy, but I have reasons for how I played it and am very happy with my choices:

PapaWarbucks: mucks hand

Finally, here's a hand where you just have to grit your teeth and raise on the turn because it's a big pot, even though you don't really expect your hand to be good a huge percentage of the time. Also, I wonder if I should've bet the river. I didn't because I'm not too familiar with lester_x yet, and was not sure if 88 or 99 would be in his preflop capping range there. If I knew they weren't, I would've bet the river because then AK becomes a lot more likely. I would not recommend most players to make this preflop call, too:
