Goals for 09

Blog by : Sawcruhteez

So it has been a very long time since I have posted and if anyone where to ever have read my blog they must've thought that I went busto. Well actually quite the contrary happened and I have just been way to busy to post or watch many vids and I need to change that ASAP. I actually won the 50K freeroll for supernovas as I satellited in as a platinum. We chopped it 4 way and I shipped like 90% of 1st place money I think I got a little over 8K.

This left me with a little over 11K in my BR and I have since spent a ton of money. I ended up buying an Old English Bulldogge who's name is Plato. He is a fuckking bad ass. Unfortunately that is what has kept me so busy in the last couple months.

After that win I had over 50BI's for 200NL so I took my shots, and took my lumps. I ended up down about 3K for that, but have improved my game imensely. I hired a coach, who has also helped me improve my game. I have since realized that not only was I a calling station, but also a spewtard that was def -EV in 50NL HU and 100 6m. Luckyily I have made some huge changes to my game, and am still trying to tighten up some, but I now feel that I am at least +EV at 100NL 6m.

I will grind that for either 30K hands or until I double my roll whichever comes first. I have cashed out about 4K since then so my roll is just under 5K right now. If I could put together 7 winning days in a row I could take my shots at 200, but I really need to focus on improving my game before I should take any more shots.

Goals for 09

-Be able to beat 400NL
-Profit 100K playing cash games
-Keep at 3.0 GPA
-Play one live event out of America, and one in America
These are very lofty goals that I have set for myself, but while I was looking through the 2008 graph thread on 2+2 I realized that these goals are def attainable, and it's better to set my goals high than low. I want to push myself to something that would be very difficult to obtain, instead of just coasting to a goal that I know is very attainable.

Now if I fail I cannot be dissapointed, because I failure to a goal set high, is still usually better than succeeding a goal because it was set too low. I don't want to just mill around at the mid stakes in this game, I want to push myself to be the best the I can possibly be. Not because of the money, that is just the way of keeping score.

If i can be beating up on 400NL by the end of the year, i could use the next year to focus on 600-2K, and that would be dope, I would be on my way to the HSNL tables. I am going to keep my goals set high, and if by the end of the year I am only beating 200NL with 60K of profit, that is still way better than the previous goal I was going to set for myself.

So hopefully I can keep this blog updated more often and we'll see how it goes!

Platinum Star

Blog by : Sawcruhteez
0

So long story short, I basically had a day today a lot like the ones that I used to have every single day. I started out running hot and I barely cracked the 4BI mark, but didn't notice it at the time and kept playing, until I hit some coolers.
I then logged off and saw how close I was to being a platinum star and I really didn't know how much poker I'd be getting in, in the next couple days so I grinded 4.5K hands of 100NL at like 10-15 talbes, and I ended up breaking even, which I am very pleased with.
So I am back to platinum star status and I will start raking in the VPP's now!!!

numero cinco

Today I probably had the toughest struggle by far, in any of my 4BI challenge days...if that makes anysence.
I had the lowest WR towards acheiving 4BI's, so this meant I played the most hands, and struggled the hardest. But this made it all the better when I finally pulled it through. I played close to 3K hands for the first time in a while, and I was down 3BI's at about 1K hands. Despite a pretty rough beat for stacks, I still battled back to make 188 dollars.
So what so I do? Multitable HU to break the 4BI mark obv.
I sat down w a guy I really respect at 6max, but he didn't play one hand from the button,
and I snapped off a river bluff from a donk to run it up to 211 for the day. This one felt really good, because it wasn't easy, and I felt I had to really earn the money that I made.
I really out played my opponents and by the end of the day I had built pretty much all of my stacks up to at least 75, and over 150, just by playing good solid aggressive poker. So I was very pleased with myself, but the real goal is to make it one whole week in a row, that'd be some bad ass shit. I feel that I am kind of doing everything better at this level, than I was at 25NL, which shows with a higher WR over more hands, so there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to win more days in a row.

1/2K DAY

Blog by : Sawcruhteez

So today I had my first 1/2K Day ever, and it feels good. I played all 100NL on a juicy Sunday, and didn't really go on a heater right off the bat like I have done in the past. Instead I grinded out 2K for a WR of 12. The best thing about it, is the entire time that I sate at 10+ tables I did not feel outmatched at all. I felt that I was out thinking players, and pretty much always one step ahead of most regulars. This being said I sucked out HUGE for the biggest pot in my life and it felt GREAT!!!! I am not a big fan a bad beat stories, but when they are in my favor I am a really big fan of them so here goes,
I was playing deep stacked w a donk sitting to my left. He started over 200BB's deep, and I had built my stack up to about 175BBs. He was playing like 50/10 and was a huge calling station that I had been pwning up until now. So he open MRd in the CO and I was in the SB w KK and popped him 4X, and he jammed on me.
I obv. snap called
He obv. had AA
Flop came K73
Turn 3
River 9
and then I found out he had AA and they shipped the 3.5BI pot.
It was sick as fuck, because right before this I had taken some of the worst beats I have had in a while, and this was tough to handle playing higher than usual. The only the that I will say is a faggot flopped trips, I turned the boat, and he rivered quads and I was in disbelief, but I am proud of myself for how well I handled the tilt, and I got back to playing my A/B game quickly.
This was my 4th day in a row of making 4BI's, and I think it would be extremely bad ass if I could go 7 days in a row, since I fell short at 6 last time. I have a lot of shit that I should be doing this week so I might not get in much poker, and just call it a good month. However, if I could go 7 days in a row I might be able to have a crack at 3K profit this month, which would be about 3 times my previous largest month in cash games. So that would be uber sick, so I will hope to give that a run.
Hopefully this suck out will be the begining of a beautiful thing...

Most profit in one day from cash games

Blog by : Sawcruhteez
0

Today was a little weird, I played three different levels, because there were certain that there just weren't enough good games at 50NL, so I had to hop around a little bit. First I played some 100NL, because I noticed their were some pretty good games running, a made a little more than a BI, while running into some extreme coolers against AQ. Got it in 3 different times against that hand, when I had AA, and AK twice. I ran into trips twice, and a one card flush once, but o well I still made it out of there with a profit.
I then got high and played 13 tables of 25NL and felt like I was crushing it for the first couple hundred hands, but only ended up winning 2BI's. I then decided it was time for some good ol 50NL, so I pulled up 10 tables of that. I played well and ran well here for about five hundred more hands and netted about 2 and 1/2 BI's. It totaled out to 448 dollars profit for 1,801 hands equaling out to 23.9BB/100. This brought my monthly WR up to 6.2BB/100 over 25K hands, mostly at 50 and 100NL. This is a stat that I would be very proud to maintain for the month.
I knocked off day number two of making 4BI's in a row, and I'll be going to for number three tomorrow. I really want to reach 2K profit for the month, and after today this is very realistic. If I can knock off two more days of making 4BI's I will have reached my goal.
So for the rest of the month my goals are to keep my WR over 6, and to reach 2K profit for the first month ever, exclusively in cash games. This should be very acheivable, and I will continue to try and improve my game as much as possible in the mean time. I feel like 100NL is just around the corner, which I feel could be one of the most profitable games on Stars. If I could be playing 100NL regularly and acheive platinum status by next month I would be ballin out of control.
So wish me luck,
and o ya I pick up my dog on Saturday, so I couldn't be much more excited for that, I am now thinking about naming him Plato, so we'll see how that goes.

Well it has been a bit of a swingy month making the transaction to 50NL, but I feel that I am finally getting the hang of it. I have had a very busy last couple weekends, with friends flying in from all over the country. Unfortunately this didn't allow we much time for poker or school work, and both sufferred because of it.
I really haven't been logging onto CR at all lately, and I am starting to consider putting my membership on pause. There really isn't anything for FR, so I really don't find much of the info useful to the game I am trying to build right now. So instead I have been browsing the strategy forums in twoplustwo as much as possible and I feel that I am finally starting to make big leaps in improving my game.
This is really exciting to me, and I hope to keep improving my game as much as possible. I want to be playing 100NL by Chistmas break as I feel this is a very profitable level in the full ring category. Especially around the holiday season I think I could make a killing at this level, so I hoped to be bankrolled for it.
In the mean time I want to try to crush 50NL, like I crushed 25NL. I started out with a goal of 3 days in a row profiting at 4BI's. So this will be my goal for this level, and there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to tact on a few more just like I did at 25NL.
So today I kicked it off with a solid session profiting 6BI's in a little over an hour and a half playing about 1 thousand hands. This should be easy enough to do over the next couple days, considering today was suppose to be my day off, so I have the best stretch ahead to try and make a run.
I am playing pretty well this month, and learning a ton, which is more important. So far at this month I have played mostly 50NL and a little 100NL and a couple hands at 25. So far I have gotten in 23K hands, mostly 10-13 tabling and I have a WR of 4.85BB/100. This is really good considering I have never played over 6 tables and have never been able to beet 50NL.
So this is extremely encouraging as I try to move up the ladder towards becoming a good poker player. I am STARTING to think like a poker player, and the more I can do this the better I will get. So hopefully things keep going as planned and I will be at 100NL in no time!

*Sidenote* I am moving out next to a building that allows dogs, and getting the cutest fucking puppy ever. Unfortunately I have to cash out half of my roll to buy it, but o well, as long as things keep going as planned I have nothing to worry about

50NL

Blog by : Sawcruhteez
0

So after I had a hot run at 100NL for a couple hundred hands I thought Id keep playing it while the games are good during the weekend. I thought it'd be really easy to just play for value and stay out of mediocre situations forever, but this is obv. not true or poker would be easy.

So I have had a bit of a rough time at that level since crushing it for 4 BI's, but in the same time I destoyed 50NL for 1K hands and would have made over 10BI's if I didn't run into a pretty rough in a multiway pot AI preflop. But o well, so from now on my game is 50NL, I will be 10 tabling it and cuting myself off at 4K hands, although I don't see that being a problem, and I will let myself play until I am up 8BI's, if this proves to be a problem I will probably cut it back to 6 or 4.

My goal for this month is 2K in profit, and I think that is a managable goal. I have realized that 50NL is not as hard as I was making it up to be, mostly because I sucked ass last time I took a shot. So I just need to settle down and play my A game and play mostly for value, and I think I am ready to beat 50NL.

I am going to start getting in as many hands as I can at this level, and will start posting hands where I get stacked. I am hoping this month at 50NL goes as smooth as last month at 25NL, and that will leave me ready to play 100NL by the end of the month.

In the mean time I am going to consider hiring a coach as I think it would really help me advance my game the most at this point. However I want to get a coach that will help me with FR, 6Max and even HU. I know this will probably be difficult to find, and I basically have wet dreams every night thinking about Verneer doing the job, so hopefully something afordable w a good pro will work out soon!

De-Sensitizing

Blog by : Sawcruhteez
0

When moving up to 50NL I found myself very timid and scared because of how accumsomed I have become to 25NL playing it for a month straight. This is crazy since this is basically the first time in my life that I have had close to a 30BI bankroll.

So I decided to "De-Sensitize" myself to this my jumping straight to 100NL to prove to myself that 50NL is not that hard. When I sat down I told myself that this is just to learn and if I loose up to 1BI it's ok as long as I learn from the experience. So I played really tight and just didn't make any moves. Value bet when I had a strong hand and tryed to fold as much as possible and never push the call button, eventhough I could have done a much better job at this, I don't think things could have gone much better for me.

As the matter of fact I broke my old record for making 4BI's in 705 hands and made the four buy ins in exactly 554, only this time it was at 100NL. Thats right I made 4BI's at 100NL in less hands than I ever did it at 25NL.

While I obviously ran incredible, I need to take this as an eye opening experience. The difference between these levels is not as big as I make it out to be, and there can be a lot more money won at the higher limits. So I am going to try and post my first graph for today, and I hope it works, here goes.

I hope that worked, if it did you can tell that I cracked the 4BI's in under 500. I obv. had to run like God to do this, but I really don't think I ran quite as good as it appears...I only had one pot where I won a BI and that was when I flopped an o/e straight draw and the 2nd nut flush draw. I got really lucky to win that pot, but other than that the most I won in one pot was 60 dollars, and I only really sucked out once.

So ya I ran really good, but I think the key here is that I din't bluff off any money like I have grown so accustomed to doing. I feel like I would have made 4BI's at 50NL on my first try in about this many hands if I didn't just get completely owned in 3bet pots when I was bluffing.

So I really reall really do need to take this seriously and start playing for value. If you wanna bluff play heads up. If you wanna play fr, win money, and don't piss it away.

My game has improved astronomically over the past 5 months and 275K hands, and I am nowhere near the same player that I was back then. I really do fee like I have a really solid A game, and it is good enough to beat 100NL. I am not going to look at it like some sort of quantum leap from level to level anymore. I wasn't good enough to play in those games back then, but I am better now and feel that I can.

So from now on I am not going to just play one limit, I am going to be a NLHE player that plays from 25NL-100NL, depending on where the games are good. Check them all out before making a decision. Anytime I get stacked I am going to be posting that hand on a forum, and other than that I will be replying to what others have posted.

It's time to start taking this game seriously and moving up through the limits instead of standing still. Take Patrik Antonius' advice and challenge yourself to get better and move up through the limits by playing with the best players at those limits, becaue there is a lot more money to be made in the long run if you can quickly move up through the limits, rather than just grinding out a profit at the lower stakes.

That being said I will be obv. very dedicated to table selection and even moreso, seat selection when playing in the bigger games.

whewww

I had a pretty eventful last couple of days eventhough i haven't gotten in one hand of poker since my AK busted me from the final table. It's not that I haven't wanted to play, it's just that I kinda felt the need to kinda take a break after that big score. My bank account is at the highest that it has ever been at, and that is saying a lot considering I was down to 300 dollars at the begining of the month, and I have a 500 dollar check in the mail from PStars.

So during that tourny I got a text from Tristan saying she was at Kaley's house right next door and would hit me up later if they did something fun. Well I was waiting for that call playing in that tourny, lucky for me she didn't call cause I would have obv. abadoned my stack and showered and went and met up with her. So I guess this kind of proves that I'm not a total degen...so anyways she never called and brie was railing me the whole tourny, so she told me I should come over and watch the WSOP. So I decided to drive my ass all the way to Greeley at 12 in the morning cause I was riding the high of just winning 1G in about 2.5 hours.

By the time I got there the WSOP was over...and I hadn't seen/ or talked to this girl in over a month. Now keep in mind we basically lived together for the better part of three months and before today I probably thought I would never talk to her again. At this moment in time I thought she got back together w her old bf and they were going to try and make that work, lol he lives in Memphis.

So it was about as un awkward as this situation could be and we immidiatly started enjoying eachothers company. I told myself that I was not going to even think about having sex w her until she broke up w her for good, but that was prolly a lie cause I had been thinking about it the whole drive over. Well it turns out that she never really got back together w him and she has been single for 1.5 months, which is apparantly the longest she's ever been w/o having sex. Which I found a little repulsive, but o well.

I also found out that in the first few weeks she was up here she got a DUI and her life is pretty fucked right now. I don't really understand it, but her parents are aparantly completely going to bail her out of this one. They are going to pay for everything, and they are still spoiling her on the side. This is prolly because she is homesick and she says that she doesn't even want to be here.

I could understand why she feels this way, cause I don't really like Greeley at all either, we almost got cause up in a drive by at 3 in the morning, but made it out of there safe, although I don't know if we were the only ones.

So around 4 am she leaned in and kissed me and I am not going to lie it felt great. I felt all the old butterflies jumping, one of which she got tattoed on her crotch. Laying in her bed and holding her close to me felt absolutely incredible and I honetstly couldn't have asked for anything more than that.

But obv one thing led to another and we ended up doing it twice before passing out around 7 in the am. Got up around noon and drove home, and she followed me about 2 hours later. We chilled we B Rad and got some "gourmet" beer which included, Modelo Negra, Guiness, and Bluee Moon.

We played some drinking games and got a kinda drunk. I haven't been that drunk since I have been up here, so of course I climbed into bed with whiskey dick and could not get off for the life of me. We went at it for, she claims 45 minutes to an hour, before I decided to give up because it just wasn't happenin. We mixed a shower in there and everything, but nothing doin for me so passed out and woke up pretty early this morning.

We went on a nice drive to some casinos and got kicked out of two of them, because she is underage and I didn't want to use my fake. The funny thing is we weren't even trying to gamble, we just went to two restraunts and the hostess carded us at like 11am on Sunday! I couldn't believe it but whatever.

We came back home and went at it some more, before she peaced it back to Greeley. I studied for an hour and found my way here, so I guess this about wraps up a very long and productive weekend!

whewwww

sidenotes

Friday-Won 1K in an 8.8BI donkament where my X gf who i haven't talked to in over a month started talking to me in the chat box.

After I busted out of the final table I drove to an hour away to Greeley at midnight to see her for the first time in a while.

Saturday-Sunday- I got drunk and high and we fucked all day long, it is now 10:41 on Sunday and she just got back to her place and I am fkn spent.

lol donkaments

so i just got done playing in this 8.80 turbo donkament on Stars w 17,712 in the prize pool after 2,214 players entered. Probably the funniest part about this whole story happens before the first break. I was playing in the 3.30+R along side this one when I busted out pretty quickly. Well I thought I busted out of the 8.80 so I decided that I wanted to either build a huge stack or bust.

So I started open shoving for about 6 hands in a row. I think i got lucky and won one of them and my X gf, who i got an account on PStars some time back, logs on the tells me nh and whatnot. I haven't talked to her in over a month and she has since gotten back w her old bf. So needless to say this was extremely awkward. But we started chit chating and I decided to not look like an idiot and settle down and actually play the tourny while we talked.

Long story short we got into a real in depth convo on the PStars chat function, and she is coming to see me tomorrow to give a card that she apparantly sent me for my Bday but got sent back cause she didn't have the apt #. She is also going to pick up about 5 pairs of undies that I have had ever since the move.

Anyways I go on to make the final table and get down to 4 players when I was second in chips I got it in w the big stack, he flipped over A7o and I had him dominated w AK. The flop brought a 7 and sent me to the rail with about 3/4 of the chips in play in that pot. UGLY, but o well I still hit my first tourny score for over 1K rounding out at 1,062.73.

Now she texting me telling me to come over and watch the WSOP and either stay the night, or I have to come spend the night there some other time this week. Ummmm WTF, not to mention when I was playing in that tourny the girl from the CU dance team hit me up seeing what I was up to. I was planning on hanging out w her until she didn't call me back.

So ummm well ummmmm WTF do I do??? can i really go over there right now??? This is going to be awkward as fuck to say the least, and I don't have but one nug left damnit!!!!
