Moving Update

Blog by : Rebecca

Hey folks,

I know I don't really have anyone following this blog but, I haven't made an update in a bit and here's the scoop.

I had been sort of squatting on a place to live the last few months, an old house that the owner quit paying the rent on while i was staying there. They quit paying and moved out and the mortgage company went broke so wasn't coming around to kick us out. So I stayed for a while longer to get free rent :)

The day finally came and we had to leave last week. I'm all moved in to my new place which is not exactly a dream home but its good and I have nice private place to work my poker. Only problem we're having is the satellite internet we have to have here is delivering half the promised speed and it is lagging my response time on Full Tilt to unplayable levels. I'm working on that and on getting my webhosting up to host pics.

Also, my money came from UB so I will be moving to Full Tilt 100%. Looking forward to doing it again :D

Starting Analysis, pt. 2

Blog by : Rebecca
0

Alright, picking back up again tonight with the second half of the analysis in just a moment.

I'm having trouble with imageshack, apparantly I can't have more than 3 files there. Which is really dumb, but I'm not paying them, so I understand. I'm going to be moving (locally) on Saturday, so after I get settled in there, I will find some other host that will suit my needs better. And then, I will go back and update these early entries with the images as they were intended. For now, unfortunately, that means I won't have images available. I'll still be making them, they just won't be on the web, yet.

So here we go ...

5. Heads up Play ...

Our first check is to see how my play is on hands where a flop appears, and I'm only up against 1 other player the entire time.

My BB/Hand here is -.19/hand, so obviously, this isn't good. We want some positive green numbers.

Our second check is to see what happens when I wasn't the aggressor. Unfortunately in my case I seem to go from bad to worse, dropping to -.80/hand if I'm not the aggressor.

So I can identify that I have a leak here, which isn't that unexpected really. However, I would really appreciate some advice on this area as I definately see the results here and say "So what do I do about it?"

6. Multiway pots ...

This section is basically the inverse of #5. Surprisingly, I actually got a green number here! BB/Hand of +.01! Haha. Okay, so again, not surprisingly, I can do better. Again, once I am not the aggressor, I drop to -.05/Hand.

7. Pocket Pairs

VPIP Here is supposed to be 85% or higher. Well I am at 87.65%, so there's a success. I am playing them as much as I should. My PFR here of 71% is a bit higher than the guide suggests, perhaps what I need to do is calm down the raises just a bit in order to do a little more set mining and bring home the big wins. My worst one is QQ and 99. QQ seems to bring me small wins or big losses. 99 I am just bleeding money out, overvaluing my hand quite a bit.

8. Suited Connectors and 9. Unsuited Connectors

If I am huge donkey with pocket pairs, it should come as no surprise that these hands are even worse. Big F's across the board. It's not even worth the time to discuss right now. FAIL!

10. Postflop Aggression

First action on flop after a pre-flop raise: Bet: 68.66% and Raise: 4.48%

Total Aggression factor: 3.61

Seems I am doing okay statistic wise, but I have a feeling that a big source of my leaks come from MISPLACED aggression. Anyone willing to provide some insight here how I can keep my aggression high, but get it back on track?

11. Check Raising

My total Check-Raise% here is 1.84%. Which is a bit higher than the 1% recommended and I do need to remember what table I am at; however it is still within the 2% allotted. I try and do this when I think my opponents raise is bogus, inappropriately sized, etc.

Thanks for listening once again :) Going forward I am going to start with Brystmar's SSNL series and see how that goes.

Starting Analysis

Blog by : Rebecca
0

Alright, today I am going to go through the PT Self Analysis Guide from 2+2

1. How's my preflop aggression?

SB = 7.53 / 12.43 = 0.605 -- OK!

BB = 4.55 / 8.52 = 0.534 -- OK!

7 = 2.80 / 2.80 = 1.000 -- OK!

6 = 5.10 / 5.56 = 0.917 -- OK!

5 = 5.05 / 5.72 = 0.882 -- OK!

4 = 10.25 / 10.87 = 0.942 -- OK!

3 = 9.17 / 10.36 = 0.885 -- OK!

2 = 10.15 / 12.54 = 0.809 -- OK!

1 = 10.09 / 14.54 = 0.693 -- OK!

D = 14.93 / 19.44 = 0.768 -- OK!

Conclusion: My preflop aggression is all statistically fine against my current VPIP. A smoother curve would be better, but is likely affected more by variance in the 3k sample size than by play errors right now. This part does not appear to be a major leak right now. Both my PFR and VPIP are too low, which is a leak.

2. Am I positionally aware?

Overall, yes. My VPIP steadily increases as I approach the button. I am unsure how to fully interpret the sudden spike in the blinds, as I thought I wasn't putting that much in to the blinds. Seems we've found another leak!

3. How's my stealing?

My "Att. to Steal Blinds" is 15.85 -- FAIL! According to the guide, this should be 20 minimum and I am leaving money on the table. I think this may be related to my low overall VPIP/PFR and may fix itself if I fix the previous problem. Still, this is a problem.

4. Am I defending the blinds?

My small sample size is making this part of the analysis impossible. The second part of this factor had just 2 hands!

Questions 5-11 to come, I need a bit of a break right now.

Getting Started

Blog by : Rebecca
0

Hi there fellow cardrunners ...

Allow me to introduce myself a bit here in my first entry. I am a 27 year old female originally from Arizona, who has settled down in Georgia. I have always been competative and passionate about games, from Monopoly through EverQuest and on to Poker. I am a geek and a gamer, and now I am fortunate enough to have a chance in my life to pursue something I am this passionate about. As you get to know me you will find that I am the stubborn kind of gamer that will find the way to win and unabashadly go after it until the trophy is mine.

On this blog I intend to largely stick to life and poker, with other things thrown in as I see fit. Most of my life is going to be about poker for the next few years, and this blog is one of the tools I intend to take advantage of to try and improve my game. I make no secret about the fact that I hope it will attract other more experienced cardrunners to comment on my play and offer suggestions. Long term, I hope that another new cardrunner might benefit from seeing me go from the very bottom up. Hopefully you'll be able to see my game improve over time and find ways to improve your own.

I am truely blessed to have a spouse who recognizes my potential in this game and will support me completely. We're not super well off by any means, but we get by without me having to work. I have a bankroll for the stakes I am at, and if I fubar it all up I can get more without causing any family problems. I have all the resources I need to make this happen, and I have the unwaivering love of my family. The only one who ever gets upset about my lack of success is me.

While I am absolutely competative, and won't hold back on the tables, I want to add something else. Card Runners is my new home for poker. I have been here right at about a week now (I joined Tue 08 Apr 2008) and have already met a few great people in the chat. I should be coming alive in the forums soon as well. Nothing would make me happier than to see other Card Runners improve as well and I will gladly help however I can.

So with all of that out of the way, here's the stat snapshot of my play after 1 week at Card Runners. There is alot of old data which I am considering pretty much worthless at this point and starting with a fresh slate.

I suck at poker right now. My game is a giant sieve full of Paris Hilton sized holes. I don't care. I will fix them.
