5/10

Blog by : Pacu

I've reached a bankroll that is high enough to take a 10 bi shot at 5/10 again. It didn't start as I hoped it would, running very very bad. That really pissed me off because it's so important to start off good when you take a shot. I lost 7 bi and had to go back if I would lose another 3 bi. Fortunately I managed to win $7k today so I'm back where I began. I'm pretty confident that I'm good enough for 5/10 but the variance is high offcourse. The next days will be crucial for me...

There will lots of interesting hands but I'm too tired right now (played lots of hours) to look them up in my PO... I will add some hands tomorrow.

Oke here are some hands of the past few days:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262092 Villian is 20 buck spin, a very aggro reg who's not afraid to make a big bluff.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262099 I'm obv not happy about getting it in on the turn but with our history and the fact it's bu vs bb there's nothing much I could do imo...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262102 I thought villian was a bit frustrated by me and tried to make a move at me at a lot of flops.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262109 Same villian. Had to choose between all in or fold on the turn. With our history I choosed the first one but it's kinda close.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262114 Just a nice pot with a lovely turn.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262117 I'm not sure if it's better to call this flop or raise and get it in. His range is much wider then his 2 pair so I think raising is still the right option here.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262118 Value betting my top pair but 20 buck spin is raising pretty big. He's representing such a small range here (can only think of 10J) and the fact that I'm having a J myself made me doubt. Decided to fold.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2262121 oesfd so I'm getting it in, was a 51% favorite but the coinflip is his.

Hands

I've played a session of 3 hours and won $4.2k. I'm gonna post the biggest pots except for two times KK/AA (lost one, won one) because those are absolutely non interesting.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130443 Nice hand to start with against a player who isn't good imo. I squeeze and I get 2 callers. I can never see the big stack having an ace here and the shortie can have anything. I think I have 2 options on this flop: c/f or b/c. If I'm betting I have invested so much and on this draw heavy board I just have to call. I know villian and he's capable of making moves. Choosed to b/c and it worked out good.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130487 Same villian. I'm very far ahead of his range pf and on the flop. 200bb deep there's no point in getting it in on the flop (WA/WB). When he checked the turn I was pretty confident I had the best hand and bet very small to induce some stupid bluff. He calls and I'm vlauetowning myself on the river, shit happens.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130505 I think this hand is pretty standard untill the river maybe. I think his range is either a big hand or nothing. I don't see him calling two streets with a fd and the possibility he would be drawing dead. Don't think he would turn an ace into a bluff on the river. So I'm calling.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130520 This villian good be irritated a bit because I won some big hands of him. I'm flopping big but took a different line which worked out good. I always like the river c/r, either as a bluff or value but I don't do it very often.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130535 Villian 3-bets pretty small from the big blind. I'm usually folding offcourse but called this time, planning to bluff some flops which I thought were good to bluff at. I'm flopping a hand that I don't have to raise and the rest is standard.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2130559 Definately a cooler with our history. He was raising and calling every hand I raised and showing all his bluffs. I was happy to get it in but the result sucks obv.

My new computer finally arrived and I must say it is great. I don't how I could play 6 tables on my little laptop, this is so much better. I'm able to 8-table very comfortable now. I've had some problems with PokerOffice lately so I had to play without any stats which sucks. I've ran poorly and had to deal with a lot of coolers/bad beats. Didn't lose very much but didn't win either. I've won $5k the last 2 days without running good so hopefully this is the beginning of a hot streak. I want another $15k to take a decent shot at 5/10 again so that's my goal for now.

Here's one funny example that illustrates my run: http://www.pokerhand.org/?2124511

I must say I really like the CTS video, it helped me a lot to improve my game. I'm satisfied with the way I'm playing though so I'm pretty confident there will be a good winning streak soon. PokerOffice is working again so I'm gonna post some hands again the next time.

Back on earth

I can be short because my shot went very bad. I've lost 5 bi so I have to go back to 3/6 as I promised myself. I don't know for sure yet if I was running bad or getting outplayed. I'm gonna look over my hands at PO at try to find a conclusion. I've posted one hand on the forum where I would like to have some comments on: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=256465&page=1#Post256465

Gonna do my best again at 3/6 to get back.

Nice week

Blog by : Pacu

I have been playing a lot of poker this week and it has been going great. Made $28k in 1.5 weeks only at 3/6 on stars. I'm going to take a 5 bi shot at 1000nl now and I hope I can manage to play good and run good. I'm kind of a bankroll nit so no worries when it goes wrong. My game has improved quit a lot over the last month so I'm happy.

Here's one interesting hand where I decided to bluff big in a 200bb battle. http://www.pokerhand.org/?2032252 Both villians are cr members and solid. I didn't want to 4-bet pf because that would commit me against liverdracon (I'm not gonna 4-bet/fold 99 obv) so I decided to call which is a pretty strong line as well. I decided to bet out and would fold to a raise. Bfl4me calls and liverdracon folds. Turn is an ace and I bet again but got another call. On the river the board pairs and I just couldn't think of a big hand that bfl4me good have besides TT. He would definately 4-bet QQ/AA and I didn't see him calling KJ pf after a 3-bet and a cold call. Thought that my line was pretty strong and I had enough fold equity to make it a +ev move but he calls with KJ. We had nice little discussion with the 3 of us after this hand. Bfl4me kinda liked, liver didn't and I don't know really. Think it's close but a little bit spewy. But oke it's not that bad once in a while.

Will let you know how my 5/10 shot went next time.

Recovered

Blog by : Pacu

I'm fully recovered from my big downswing. Won another $5k today and now I'm up almost $19k in 5 days. I'm really happy with this result and hope to continue like this. I think I've fixed a few small leaks in my game. I changed some things and I'm happy with the way it works out. I must say I liked the video of Brian Townsend, Ezra and Taylor Caby a lot. Although I don't play heads up anymore it shows some good thinking process which is also good for your 6-max game. I hope there will be more video's like that!

Here are some hands from today: http://www.pokerhand.org/?2017519 This is a blind battle versus a player that probably is quit good (haven't played him a lot) but certainly is very aggressive. Pf could be a call as well and then play poker postflop but I decided to 3-bet him, A10o is certainly ahead of his range. He calls and I flop top pair. He c/r me but I have no intention to fold. The question is just to push now or to call and push any turn. Because of his aggressive play I decided to just call and let him bluff or semibluff the turn. He picked up a fd and over on the turn so it's an easy push for him. I obv call and he hits his flush. Think I've played it fine though....

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2017585 In this hand I really liked my river value bet. He's a good thinking player and he knows I will use the ace a lot to bluff. So I bet almost pot to make it look like a bluff who's trying to represent the ace. He thought for a while and called so it worked out.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2017596 This one is just a funny hand versus a bad player. I missclicked pf but it gave me a 500bb pot!

Will play again tomorrow!

Biggest downswing ever

Blog by : Pacu
0

The last month has been my worst month ever. I've lost about $21k and there are a few reasons for it. First of all I ran like really bad. Besides that there was some tilt because of my computer. Stars is really lagging on my laptop and my internet connection hasn't been great as well. I don't really care about bad beats and it don't tilt me very fast but if my computer isn't working it really frustrates me. The resolve this problem I'm gonna buy a new computer with two 22 inch monitors. I will be able to 8-table very comfortable so I'm really looking forward to my new set up.

In the last 2 days I won $8k which is good but it could have been more if I was running a little better. But I hope this will be the beginning of an upswing. I'm not able to post hands because my PO isn't working as it supposed to be. I will definately switch to PT when my year is over. Gonna post some hands in the future again, it has been a while...

Out

Blog by : Pacu

Today the main event started for me. I won a few pots in the beginning and build my stack up to 25k (we started with 20k). Then I 3-bet a sweedish guy, who is opening a lot in position, from the sb with 8hJh and he calls. The flop comes KQ10 and I c-bet which he calls again. Turn is a 10 and I double barreled, he raised it and I folded. A few hands later I 3-bet him again from the button after he opened from the CO. This time I have QQ and the flop comes 893. He c/r me to 4k and I called. Turn is a K and it goes c/c. The river is J and he leads for 6k, I call and he turns over JJ. I'm down to about 6k now. After that I won a coinflip with AQs against 99 and had about 18k after the following hand happened. Someone opens from middle position and I 3-bet from the sb with JJ. He asks me how much I have behind. Because of this question I was pretty sure he was wondering if he had implied odds, so a huge part of his range are small pp and suited connecters imo... The Flop comes Q73 and I c-bet and he calls. The turn is a 9 and I decidec to check. Hij bets 6k and I only have 13k behind. After some thinking went all in and he makes an unhappy call with 810 and my JJ held up. I lost some small pots and have about an average stack before Phil Ivey joins our table. If he's at the table it means there are a lot of camera's and people watching which if fun. He's a massive chipleader but oke, so be it. I didn't get any hands and after the dinner break I have a stack of 21k when average was 30k. Then Ivey opens utg and I call from the sb with AcQs. The sb calls as well and the flop comes 9s10cJc. It's checked around and the turn brings a 3c. Ivey bet and I call, sb folds. The river is an Ah and Ivey bets again and after some thinking I called, but Ivey showed A10 for two pair. This is the only hand I didn't play good and that dissapoints me. I should have bet the flop and raised the turn I guess but oke... I only have 8k left after this hand and I put all my money in the middle with QK and got a coin flip againt 99 but didn't get any help. So I'm out and pretty pissed off at the moment. Maybe I can say tomorrow that it was a nice experience but today I'm only dissapointed so I'm not gonna say that. Gonna drink some beers now. Pacuno

Short Aussie update

Blog by : Pacu

I'm in Australia now for one week and tomorrow will start the main event for me. I'm having a bad run online so I can use a good result. I've cashgamed one day here at 5/10 and won about $1.4k. Didn't really liked it though, it was going so slow and the game is bad. I don't like it to just play ABC poker but that's the way to make money here imo... Hope to get a good run tomorrow, we will see! Pacuno
