1 down 12 to go

Alright, so just busted out of FTOPS #1 in ~1300 place out of ~4500 entries. Not too much happened, I got down to 20bbs in the 2nd hour, jammed KQs from the CO vs HJ open who had JJ. I flopped a K so that was a double up. Very next hand a 15bb stack opens and I have AKs, we get it in, he has TT and holds. So back to average.

One interesting hand is I have 44 in the SB. The CO opens for 1/4 of their stack (1K) at 250/500. Roy Winston (FTP pro i believe) flats on the button with about 15k. I have about 13k, and I decide to squeeze think I'm fine if i get it in vs the CO considering all of the dead money(?). CO folds tho, and Roy flats. Flop comes 2 6 J ss, is it even worth a cbet? I elected to just give up bc I wasn't exactly sure what Roy was going to do. Flop checks thru and then he bets 2500 into 8kish on the 6s turn putting 3 spades out, i have the 4s. I decide to just fold, whatever. Next hand I get dealt AK otb with 20bbs, Roy limps the CO, I jam, folds to him and he calls with 99. Brick. GG me.

Away from donkaments, in the cash arena I think I played the biggest pot of my life when you measure it in big blinds. It was a pretty fun hand, where a fish opened and we were super deep so I decided to isolate him. Then we get cold 4 bet smallish from the blinds by a player who is even deeper than us. The fish calls the 4 bet and I couldn't help myself. I got about as good a flop as I could ask for, and then turned GIN. I was a little worried when the BB called my jam on the turn, then I was like "lol, if he cold 4 bet JJ/TT with these stacks, f me, theres no way"

Spoiler:
It appears the converter is messing up a bit but the BB had KK, and the fish had KJ for an insanely small sweat given the size and drawyness of the flop. Oh and the pot size is a little messed up since nobody covers the BB, I think the actual pot size was around $4300.

And to mix in some non poker content I'll tell you guys about the 2 pranks that I described in my Big Break interview. They are simple, yet very effective. As a side note, the more computer illiterate your target is the better these pranks will be.

So after my freshman year of college I had to do a golf internship and the head pro I worked for was an incredibly jerk. Luckily for me he was also very computer illiterate. So one day I stumbled ac
ross this prank idea. In microsoft word, have you ever noticed that it will automatically correct some of your mispelled words for you? I'm sure you have, buuuuttttt did you know that you can go in an edit the auto correct function yourself??? So one day me and a fellow assistant pro were messing around with this feature. I decided to have word autocorrect the word "the" to "you suck".

We had a tournament the following day, which in the golf business means that rules sheets will have to be typed up. I didn't have to come in until a little later in the morning and when I walked into the shop it was utter chaos. The head pro was standing there trying to type up a rules sheet for the tournament which was conveniently titled "THE 13th annual blah blah blah". As I'm walking up to the counter I can see his face is just burnt red with anger, as he is "finger punching"(you know the people that just type with the index finger on each of their hands) the word "the" in and then slamming the spacebar. Boom. "You suck" the computer replied. The other assistants could barely keep their composure. He could not understand what was happening, and he was even verbalizing his actions to us in an effort to reassure himself that he wasn't going crazy and that he was actually typing everything in correctly. I let him have a few more attempts at it before I finally stepped in and finished up the rule sheet as he went to try and calm down in his office.

Little did he know that the night before, I also switched the "M" and "N" key on his keyboard. I could hear him in there trying to respond to emails, and freaking out that every time he hit "M" it typed an "N" and vice versa. Man, I was losing it. After some more banging sounds and expletives flew out of his office door, I saw him storm out and shout that he was done with computers for the day. LOL. Boy was that a fun and very satisfying 10 mins, not to mention a great way to start the work day.

So next time your friend is pissing you off and he is writing a paper for class or something, slip in a creative autocorrect word, sit back and enjoy.

FTOPSSSSSSS and Big Break?

Blog by : NxtWrldChamp

Hey everyone, after months away from blogging I've decided to start again. Figured it would be a good way to break in my new CR name and It's a good way to make myself put in some time away from the tables thinking about poker.

So what has been going on? Well a couple of months ago I chopped miniFTOPS #1 4 ways, and took just under 3rd place money(20.6K) as the short stack. With the end game of tournaments definitely not a forte of mine, I was very pleased that I got offered such a good deal. That helped boost my online bankroll and gave me a lot of confidence back that I had lost in the months before. Since then things have been going pretty well. Last month I took a shot at 25/50 cap due to the presence of a large fish, and ran really well. Other than that everything else has been going pretty smoothly.

The FTOPs start tonight, and I've decided I'm going to play a pretty hefty schedule of the NL events. I will be playing 13 events in all, here they are.

Event #1 $216 NL
Event #3 $322 NL 6 max shootout
Event #5 $216 NL 6 max 1 rebuy + 1 add-on
Event #11 $129 NL Knockout
Event #12 $535 NL Heads Up
Event #13 $322 NL
Event #16 $1060 NL 6 max
Event #22 $322 NL 6 max rebuy
Event #26 $216 NL 6 max
Event #29 $2100 NL
Event #32 $256 NL 6 max knockout
Event #33 $163 NL rebuy
Main Event $640 NL

11/10/2010 216 NL 43500
11/11/2010 322 6 max nl shootout 64700
11/12/2010 616 1r + 1a 43500
11/14/2010 129 nl knockout 25900
11/14/2010 535 hu 107500
11/14/2010 322 nl 64700
11/15/2010 1060 6 max 212500
11/17/2010 1522 6max rebuy 64700
11/19/2010 216 6 max 43500
11/20/2010 2100 nl 420000
11/21/2010 256 nl knockout 51500
11/21/2010 763 nl rebuy 32750
11/21/2010 640 nl 127500
So hopefully I run good, and make it deep in a couple of them. Or just really deep in 1 would be nice.

Away from poker I've been doing a bit more golf stuff. A few months ago I was cruising thegolfchannel.com to see who the contestants were going to be on the new season of The Big Break. While there I noticed that they were taking applications for a new all male season. I applied for the heck of it, and a couple weeks ago I got an email saying that they wanted me to come down to Orlando, FL for an audition. Sweeeeeet. So I worked quite a bit on my game before heading down there last Thursday. I was a little disappointed to see how many people they invited down, I was expecting maybe 30-40 people but it turned out to be 80-100. So seeing as they normally take 10-12 people per season of the show my odds weren't as good as I was hoping for but i guess 8:1ish isn't bad. Throw in that I appeared to be the youngest there, and I'm a professional poker player maybe that will give me a spot.

As for the audition itself, it was pretty short. My time was supposed to be 2:00 so I got there at 1:30 to make sure that I had a chance to hit some balls and warm up. I'm working on a few things in my swing right now so I just tried to warm up, working on those things. They called me for my audition at about 2:15. I hit 5 shots with an 8 iron in front of a video camera and then hit about 3 drivers. The 8 iron swings were a bit quick, a combination of being in front of the camera and not being 100% comfortable with my swing. I hit the 8 irons pretty well, and then I have a lot of confidence with my driver and I hit all of those very well. Next was a 15 min interview with a golf channel producer. We talked about poker, my golf game, why I think I would be good for the Big Break, and about being a prankster which I put on my application. The producer really got a kick out of some of the pranks I have pulled on some terrible bosses I've had, so hopefully that works in my favor. I was out of there about an hour and 15 minutes after I arrived so it was a short trip to Orlando. I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

Well that's about it for now, this is getting kinda long. Maybe next blog I will give you guys some details on the pranks that I've pulled. Until next time gl at the tables, and gl everyone playing in the FTOPS.
