I started reading Cole's old blog (cts687.livejournal.com). I must say it gives me a real good inside on how he worked his way up. One thing I noticed is he played a lot, and I mean a whole lot of hands. If I look at the hands I played and his, there is a very big difference. I played near 50k hands in 3 months and he played 90k just in may 2006, now that's a shit load of hands in one month. He 8-tabled like every session, having a MT Ratio of 6.23 for the month may. In the first two months I played 4 tables at most and a lot of the time just 2. For the moment I play 5 or 6 tables per session. I got a 19" monitor and my laptop screen, when playing 8 tables on those screens I can't follow the action enough. Hopefully I'll get my new desktop soon with the 2x 22" and then I'll try to 8-table again. I also want to spent more time playing, watching a vid or reading the forums is good for your game and makes you think about situation, but the best training is still playing by yourself. At the moment my average of play is like an hour per day and that really needs to go up as well if I want to reach my goal on time.
So for the moment the things I want to work on are:
- play more hours per month
- always play 6+ tables per session
- play a little looser (esp. on the button) raising and calling more (let's say a total VPIP of just above 20)
About playing looser I noticed a started to play more hands the higher the limit. Very obvious I think because more players fold in early position and stealing the blinds is more effective. On the other hand I think by myself, the players are a lot worse and I should be playing more hands since my postflop play is a lot better so I make better decisions hence I'm making money. When my opponents make more mistakes then I'm I will make money.
For today I got some things to work on for school that has to be finished today. Hopefully this will be done soon so go can still play a session today.
