Huggins' Audition Video

Been insanely busy recently as evidenced by the complete lack of blog posts. But I wanted to let you guys see the video I helped edit together for Jared Huggins' audition to get on the PokerStars Big Game.

I guess Im the only one who doesn't understand what the big deal is about this guy. hes not married he doesnt have kids he only has himself to take care of. Some of us are struggling to make it with mouths to feed, and I have ashy elbows too

HotChick - You're seeing Jared after he's turned his life around, so it may not seem right that this seemingly healthy and well-adjusted kid is getting so much support and attention. But hearing this guy's story is truly humbling - family history of violence, abuse, neglect, drugs, prison, mental and physical illness. And yet with therapy and sobriety he's on the road to conquering many of his demons. And somehow through it all he's remained an optimist with an incredible work ethic and a burning desire to help others. He's inspired us and reaching out to him makes us feel good

Im definitely not questioning you or anyone else helping him out it's great what your doing for him, and I know hes a good guy. I'm just saying I've been through alot of the things listed above so I don't see what makes him so different then other people in the same or worse shape.I have to disagree with the work ethic though.He only has to feed and shelter himself its not that hard. Jungleman posted he went from playing 50/100 to working at Mcds. That is work ethic to me. Theres a guy on stars with Lyme disease thats going for 4 mill vpps thats work ethic to me.I guess if you come from a privildged life his life might seem real bad to you, but not to me just my opinion.

HC - Jared spent 7-8 hours every day using the free WiFi at Starbucks for several weeks grinding those freeroll qualifiers because he didn't have internet in his car or one room apartment. At times he was working three jobs simultaneously and even made videos of himself on the street corners dressed as the Statue of Liberty advertising a local merchant. Swinging the sign around is how he injured his back. His 11-person family was dirt poor so he worked his way through university. When learning the guitar he practiced every waking moment until his fingers bled and he had to be treated for carpal tunnel. He's posted his resume on 2p2 and repeatedly asked for help in finding employment in the LA area. He's offered to wash cars, paint houses, and mow lawns in exchange for the small donations members have sent him. That's a good work ethic.

Well instead of saying hell wash ur car why not get a job at a car wash? Nothing about this guys story impresses me in any way. Hes grinding freerolls to get on a show where his life could change nothing special about that.I think its great that you care I'm just stating my opinion. I know people alot worse off. My cousin was evicted from the house he rented because the owner defaulted on the loan, and he has a brain condition that requires surgery to save his life that he cant afford because he has no insurance. He lost his drivers licensce because he blacks out. I also dont respect people who get duis and put other peoples lifes in danger. How many times was he drinking and driving and not getting caught? Again just my opinion

That's terrible news about your cousin. But you're implying that because there are other people in need of help that we shouldn't reach out to this person in need of help. I just don't understand that logic.One of the posters on 2p2 made this comment, and I agree with it 100%: "People give money to Jared because they feel a direct connection to Jared and got value from all that he has shared with us. He put himself out there on the internet with pictures/vids/life story, which takes a lot of guts. It's something a little closer to home and reminds us that even in the USA a person with character and education can be dealt a bad hand and end up on the streets. They felt a desire to help him and doing so made them feel good, period. That's direct value."As for the DUI, Jared's been sober for more than a year now - he even made a video on the anniversary of his sobriety. Haven't you ever done anything you regret or were ashamed of?
