Time to move up

Well I had a great month in November. Made just over $20k including rakeback. Needless to say I'm very happy. After withdrawing, my bankroll now stands at $18k, and I think I'm ready for a full time shot at 2/4. I finished my goal of 100k hands of 1/2 over the past 2 months running at 7.7 ptbb/100. So I definitely think I'm capable of making the jump. My goal for the month is to run at 5 ptbb/100 at 2/4, using table selection and not being too stubborn to play 1/2 if I can't find enough good tables at 2/4. Anyway, here's my stats from last month.

Good luck at the tables.

Another big day

Pokers been going well since Thanksgiving... here's today, all at 1/2. With today I'm in reach of another $15k month... here's hoping I can continue to play/run well for the next few days. If I hit 15k I think I'll have to reward myself with a big purchase of something. Not sure what yet, so any suggestions are welcome. I still don't have any video game consoles, so I'm thinking maybe I'll get an Xbox360.

Playing Well

Hit $10k for the month today, including rakeback. It's just so nice to post back to back great months. Last month I hit 15k and to already be at 10 this month feels good, considering I've only played 33k hands. I've just been killing 1/2 the past 2 months, running at close to 7.5 pt/bb. After a terrible downswing in September I feel like I've consistently been on my 'A' game for a while now. My goal is to get 100k hands of my best poker at 1/2 before moving up. Right now I'm at 82k hands and I've started to take a couple shots at 2/4 when I find a softer table or two. I'm definitely rolled for 2/4, as I have about 40 buyins right now in my account, but I just really want to prove to myself that I can destroy 1/2 for the full 100k hands before giving 2/4 the full go. I guess I'm somewhat of a bankroll nit, but right now 1/2 is pretty much stress free money and you can't argue with making $150/hr, which is about what I have made at 1/2 the past 2 months 6 tabling.

Hopefully I'll look back on these 100k hands of 1/2 as the beginning of my rise to being one of the better mid-stakes players out there. I guess we'll see...

Halfway Point

Well October is halfway over and so far it has been a huge success (knock on wood... please no doomswitch). I haven't played as many hands as I would have liked cause my girlfriend was in from out of town for a long weekend and this past weekend I was at Notre Dame watching my Irish get beat yet again. Considering my goal at the beginning of the month was between 60-70k hands and $10k I am extremely happy with my progress. Here's the graph from the month so far... 95% of its at 1/2 with a little 2/4 sprinkled in.

After withdrawing a good amount I still have 30 buyins in my account for 2/4, so I think I may give that a 10 buyin or so shot and see how it goes. I've played a good amount of 2/4 before and am up overall, but haven't been able to sustain a very great winrate, so hopefullly this time around I'll be able to keep up my good play from 1/2.

Running HOT

I almost forgot how good it feels to get on a sick heater where nothing can go wrong. I feel like I'm playing well, but it's also nice when I get into cooler situations to suck back out again. Got all in twice today with AQ vs. AK and hit the Q both times, had an overpair river a set agaisnt a lower set, had a lower flush draw against a higher one and paired the turn, and just seemingly managed to come out on the right end of the big pots that I played.

I certainly don't want to get too cocky, because after looking at the PokerEV analysis I realized just how lucky I was. Ended up $1550 on the day, but was almost $1400 above expecation in all-ins before the river. Certainly can't complain about the luck, but combined with how well I feel I'm playing I'm hoping this will continue to be a great month. Total so far including rakeback is over $5K... and didn't even play much this past weekend as my girlfriend was visiting from out of town. So knock on wood, hope I can keep the hot streak going.

Turnaround

Blog by : Irishman07

September was pretty much terrible for me. I ran so badly during the first couple weeks, which eventually cause my overall play to suffer. I ended up turning things around the last week or so after coming to the realization that if I didn't start playing well/stop tilting so much I might have to give up poker as a career. Overall I only made about $2600 including rakeback and ran at ~1 pt/bb for the month... not very good. But I'm starting to play better and still made over $30k for the summer so I can't complain.

October did not get off to a very promising start... a couple coolers caused me to tilt a little and make a call I shouldn't have. As a result I started off down over 4.5 buyins. Played a night session though determined to make good decisions and not be so results oriented. It certainly payed off as I hit a really nice heater and recouped my losses plus making an additional 5 buyins. Overall a really nice day, a great start to October, and a good reminder that if you are patient and just focus on making the most +ev plays eventually the money will come.
