Swongs and a wedding date

After a dinner time trip to the pub with Lisa i got home and signed into Grandslam Poker. I joined five tables of 1/2 6max, one 3/6 6max table on which 3 of my buddies were sitting, and a 1/2 HU table where another buddy was waiting alone. Now this session started off bad and just got worse and i ended up down 1650 of my 2500 daily roll. The majority of my money was lost HU, the buddy is terrible but he hit river after river against me so what can you do. There is one losing hand i have thought about:-

www.weaktight.com/272327

I think a c/f on this river is better or even a small b/f. Hes not bluff raising me so a blocking bet would work well getting value from the weaker aces hes calling me down with. Hes also not betting anything other than a flush if i check to him. He is calling my shove with any ace so at the time i think in kind of a tilty mode i wanted max value from those hands but he does show up with a flush a lot.

After this terrible early afternoon of poker its time for a trip to Waterton Park Hotel where Lisa and i have decided to have our wedding. Im fortunate enough to have Lisa's parents following tradition and paying for the wedding. However, as this is the day the deposit will be paid they make us a last gasp offer of a £15k deposit on a house along with a small wedding rather than the large wedding planned. I of course think wow what a great idea, but do i need to tell you Lisa's thoughts on the matter? Yes, its true, me spending £30 on ticket to watch Newcastle play football is a waste of money but spending £15000 extra on one day that doesnt really change much is perfectly reasonable. Ahhh the worped mind of a woman! Anyway im not too bothered because i know it will be a great day. Saturday 1st May 2010 is the day i sign my life away Big Smile

Anyway i decided to play a few tournies in the evening to try get back in the black and was lucky enough to finish 3rd in the $30r for around $2200. The last hand was my A9 losing to the big chipleaders Q8s but id had a little luck just before the final table so i cant really complain. This meant i actually finished the day up $200 and takes me to $1500 profit for the month.

Gl,

Dan.

First!

Well iv decided to start a blog up to hopefully improve my poker game and also so i can blabber on about some other things.

So im Daniel. Im 21 and currently living in Ponte-carlo in England! Im a professional poker player and sponsored by a site called Badbeat.com. Iv just got engaged to my beautiful girlfriend Lisa and although im still technically living at home i spend nearly all nights at her house. To sum me up im a degenerate gambler who enjoys having the odd pint and playing / watching sport (especially the Toon Army!).

Right onto poker... Been grinding the low to mid stake cash games for the past few months, usually 9 tabling 1/2. Im going to use this blog as a marker of when i really start to take this seriously (with this pressure of marriage thats just come about i think this is a good idea!) so no more pissin about, its time to get some serious hours in. Im aiming for 45hrs a week, 9tabling 1/2 6max in the evenings and 4 tabling HU through the day, maybe as low as 0.25/0.50 but prob 0.50/1 normally.

Im going to try update this blog daily but iv seen many people try this and fail so i dont know how realistic this is. So thats it with the intro, time for me to grind some hands and hopefully have some good things to post 2morrow.

Gl,

Dan.
