Arghhh so long without an update!

Quick trip report of everything since my last blog entry.

  • Hong Kong women are stunning
  • Went to Macau
  • Went to Hong Kong
  • Heavy Storms here in thailand
  • Did i mention how hot the women in Hong Kong were?

Poker has been pretty meh so far in May. I played like a complete turd for the first part of may and also got crushed when taking shots at 10/20NL and since then i've just been playing 5/10NL. Had a pretty decent recovery considering i was stuck around $6k for the month.

I am planning on going to Vancouver for a while next month to see some friends so i am intent on grinding loads for the rest of this month and should hopefully still hit $30k+ if i don't run too bad. Here's May so far.

End of the month

Blog by : Id-Rock

I am off to macau and hong kong for a few days tomorrow so i guess this is my end of month post. I am glad to announce that april was my best month ever, albeit a slightly odd one. I played a pretty wide range of games starting with 3/6 HU where i proceeded to drop $5k right at the start of the month, from there i went to 12 tabling 3/6-2/4 6 max and eventually ended up 6 tabling 5/10 where i hope to stay, for a while at least. Here's the graph anyway.

Goals for May

  • Play mostly 6 tables and only play 6 max
  • Play nothing lower than 5/10NL
  • 50k hands
  • $50k in monies

These are all pretty doable i think. It will be slightly tougher however as i am not going to be able to grind until the 4th of may and i'll be taking another 4-5 days out around the 20th to go to the full moon party on koh phagnan (good times!)

Non poker thoughts:

As i've mentioned i am off to hong kong and macau for a few days. Really excited about the trip as i won't say that thailand has grated on me or anything but it's always nice to have a change of pace. There'll be four of us in total (all MSNLers) so i am guessing there should be some hardcore flipping/gambling/drinking which is always good for the soul. Also going to be picking up a ps3 in hong kong along with the new GTA game and COD4 plus some other stuff, it's going to be a real struggle to get motivated for poker once we get that set up haha.

I am guessing alot of you will have already read about this already. It's the story of the 73 year old austrian man who kept his daughter in the basement of their home for 24 years. I've been reading about it all day and i can't seem to stop thinking about it, essentially it's THE most fucked up thing i've ever heard, the lives of his poor daughter and her children have been destroyed, like how does she or her children stand any chance of living even a semi normal life from here on? completely fucked.

So i won't be updating this until may 4thish i guess, i should have some cool picture to put up on here aswell from my travels.

take care

2 days of 'grinding'

Stuck in a pretty good grind over the last few days., Well good for me at least, this is mostly 12 tabling so i guess it's really not that impressive. Still running good however so i can't really complain.

This is the only semi thin call down i could find but even this is pretty standard i think.

Been a pretty quiet few days otherwise. Myself and alex found this really good indian restaurant in kata which i can see becoming our local. Other than that Adam and I have been trying to sort out flights for macau and hong kong. Should be an awesome few days, there will be four of us in total, planning on just getting hammered and playing some live poker. (LOL live poker)

Trying my hand at blogging

Blog by : Id-Rock

Hello all,

Introductions first, My name is Adam Fletcher and i am a 21 year old professional poker player from Newport, Wales and currently live in Phuket, Thailand. I was studying mechanical engineering at University of Leeds last year but i've decided to take temporary leave to have a go at this professional poker player business.

There's quite a lot of stuff that i'd like to post like photos of my house here and just the general life in thailand but i'll probably just do that bit by bit over the next few weeks rather than try and cram everything into this one.

To the poker, I am currently a MSNL player and consider 5/10 my main game although i do range from 2/4 up to 10/20 depending on how many tables i am playing. Last week was the best week of my life poker-wise, i was lucky enough to run like god and it turned out really well for me.

here is my last 6 days

This is not totally correct though as i lost about $3k today which isn't on the graph. I also lost my biggest ever pot today too.

POKERSTARS GAME #16912292448: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($10/$20) - 2008/04/22 - 10:27:12 (ET)

Seat 5: Idstain ($2223.90 in chips)

Tempest122: posts big blind $20
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Idstain [As Ts]
Paulus_rus: folds
alpster: raises $40 to $60
veldmate: folds
Idstain: raises $140 to $200
TheCleaner11: folds
Tempest122: raises $320 to $520
alpster: calls $460
Idstain: calls $320
*** FLOP *** [8s 3s Qh]
Tempest122: checks
alpster: checks
Idstain: bets $1703.90 and is all-in
Tempest122: calls $1480 and is all-in
alpster: calls $1325 and is all-in
*** TURN *** [8s 3s Qh] [Kh]
*** RIVER *** [8s 3s Qh Kh] [7c]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
Tempest122: shows [Ad Ac] (a pair of Aces)
Idstain: mucks hand
Tempest122 collected $310 from side pot
alpster: shows [8c 8d] (three of a kind, Eights)
alpster collected $5542 from main pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $5855 Main pot $5542. Side pot $310. | Rake $3
Board [8s 3s Qh Kh 7c]
Seat 1: Tempest122 (big blind) showed [Ad Ac] and won ($310) with a pair of Aces
Seat 2: Paulus_rus folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: alpster showed [8c 8d] and won ($5542) with three of a kind, Eights
Seat 4: veldmate folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 5: Idstain (button) mucked [As Ts]
Seat 6: TheCleaner11 (small blind) folded before Flop

The game was playing super aggresively and i had been 3betting a ton pre-flop. The only part of the hand which i am slightly iffy on is my call of tempests 4 bet. I think mathmatically that's it's a correct call as i am getting great odds (and i do have position) it's just i don't like to get involved in massive pots with AT suited naturally.

With the way i have been running lately i was surprised i didn't spike and ship the pot but oh well. I really only have 6 days left to play this month as i am off to macau and hong kong on the 29th for 4 days. Because of this i am just going to 12 table 2/4-3/6 for the next week to make some variance free money and just to prove to myself i can actually stick in a proper grind!! should hopefully knock out around 25k hands.

A few of us went out for some beers and a bit of sangson (thai whisky) which tastes great with red bull but gets you absolutely wasted. Eventually me and Adam (My housemate) split from the other guys and hit another bar in kata, there we bumped into a friend of a friend and had some drinks with her and all her mates which was a laugh, it was nice to talk to some white girls for a change.

I drunkenly promise to give £1000 to the orphanage where she works (At the time i was like 'you are going to regret this in the morning') but i am really happy i did as i have never given anything to charity and a thai orphanage seems like a pretty good place to start.

Anyway, this is way longer than i originally anticipated my first post being so i am going to wrap it up. I'll try my best to keep this updated!
