Happy New Year

Blog by : HomeRow
0

Well I just realized I never got around to posting about the end results of my first p90x experience. TBH, I don't know exactly where I ended up because my b-day was a week before it ended (but the last week is a recovery week and not intense at all), and I basically pigged out for 2 weeks, so I'm not even sure what I weigh, though I'm pretty sure I gained 5-10 lbs since Dec 13. I'm kind of upset that I let myself go so much but in reality it wasn't all that bad, I hope.

I am starting round 2 of the workout tomorrow, though, and am really pumped up about getting pumped up. I'll actually take a couple pics and weigh/measure myself again when I wake up tomorrow. My goal is to push myself much harder than before, as well as do a lot more running most days. I think I'm going to rotate between running and doing Cardio X every other day when I first wake up, and then eat/chill/whatev to regain some stamina, and then hit my workout later in the day, after taking a dose of Jack3d, which seems to be a pretty awesome pre-workout mix. In order to do this how I want to, I really need to start waking up quite a bit earlier in the day. I think if I can eventually wake up between 10 and 10:30 am, this will work best for me as far as having proper times open to eat and play poker when the games are best, all while staying out of the way of my roommate who is also doing p90x again. We don't have enough weights for both of us to do most of it at once w/o adding/removing the small plates from the barbells, etc. so its just easier to do it separately for the most part.

As far as poker results from last year, they're pretty poor, but mostly because I'm lazy and never play:

Obv for a professional, this amount of hands is just sickeningly terrible. That is one of my main goals for 2010, though I didn't really list out a bunch of stuff I want to do. I mostly just want to get in better shape, get on a better/constant schedule, play more hands, and just leave an overall better life. I'm pretty sure I have a decent amount of tourney profit over this (I'd ballpark 8k-10k) but I don't think HEM has hardly any of my tourney info, so I'm really not sure how the hell I'm going to tell how much I made on tournies/sng's, so I'll prob just guess on it or something.

I'm tired and feel like slacking off before I start goin nuts on everything tomorrow, and I don't really have anything else to say other than I hope everyone had a great year and has an even better new year.

2 more weeks of p90x left

Blog by : HomeRow
0

Started Week 12 this today. I was actually really tired thoughout despite taking Jack3d before the workout. I think its from having a pretty lazy weekend that included a little drinking, smoking, and eating of food that actually tastes good. Its all good though, as I got through it and did better than normal once again on the Ab Ripper X portion at the end.

Weight: 176 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 14 lbs
Gut (at belly button): 38 in
Total Gut Lost: 4 in

I basically haven't played much poker at all but its been going pretty good. I've gotten a little bit of PLO8 in and I"m running hotter than the sun, scooping more than my fair share of pots vs people who don't know how to play it. I'm almost done w/ Deppen's book, but haven't watched any of his videos. I'm so lazy! I still play pretty nitty at the game since I still don't have a good grasp on a lot of it, but nut peddling can still lead to huge winrates at the lower games I'm playing (primarily 100PLO8) so its all good. I'll get better at knowing when to play nut 1-way hands and medium strength 2-way hands fast and slow, so I'm looking forward to increasing my knowledge in that area.

p90x progress

Blog by : HomeRow
0

I keep forgetting to post my progress w/ the p90x, so I'm doing it now. I am currently in the middle of the 2nd week of Phase 3, aka week 10 of 13. Its going great and I'm feeling and looking better and better. I weighed myself today for the first time in a couple weeks and I was at 174.5 pounds, which is the lowest I've been in about a decade, so that was pretty exciting. This fueled me to bust some ass during the workout today, which was Plyometrics, which is my least favorite of them all since it is a really tough cardio workout.

Starting weight: 190 lbs
Current weight: 174.5 lbs
Total weight lost: 15.5 lbs

As for poker, I started off November playing lots of hands, but then that slowed down due to Thanksgiving and laziness and crappy games. So I played a little over 33,000 hands total, mostly of Cap NL, and made $3,800 + a little over $1,100 in RB, which is my best month in quite a while, so I'm really happy about that. I've also started trying to learn Pot Limit Omaha 8. I picked up Dan Deppen's PLO8 book last week and haven't gotten too far into it, mostly just preflop stuff so far, but am enjoying playing it. Dan is a stoxpoker coach for this game and has 3 videos up on it, so I will be watching those this week sometime, as well as finishing the book. I probably wouldn't have ordered the book if I had looked at the games running beforehand, but I didn't, so I got it. There really aren't many games of it running, at all. I'm just looking at Full Tilt and Stars for games, so if anyone knows another site where they run a lot please let me know. So the last few days I've just been mixing in a couple PLO8 games in w/ my normal games since there aren't many good games going.

Anyways, my 30th birthday is on Dec. 13, and I am planning on being a lazy bastard for that. I had my roommate hide my last little nug of my Grandaddy Purp Kush I got from Cali, and told him to give it to me on the 13th. So I will probably just get ripped and watch football all day, and maybe go out to eat w/ some friends or something. Some friends are moving to Colorado a few days before that and are throwing a goodbye bash, so I'll get my drink on during that and just chill on my bday.

Week 6 complete - halfway done with P90X!

Blog by : HomeRow

I am now halfway done with the program and am feeling great, both physically and mentally as I have stuck to it very well. I did cheat some this weekend, drinkin and eatin some stuff that actually tastes good, but still feel like I made progress even though I gained 1 1/2 pounds.

Current Weight: 180 lbs
Weight Gain this Week: 1.5 lbs
But my jeans r fittin better so its all good :p

As far as poker goes, October was a waste. Was barely ahead since I got pounded the last couple days of the month, but with RB I at least cover my monthly nut (I think) so whatev. New goal, 50k hands a month starting today, no excuses just like everything else. Poker sux but its better than a real job.

Also, I downloaded the new Lil Wayne No Ceilings Mixtape a couple days ago and can't stop listening to Watch My Shoes and Ice Cream. He isn't sayin shit like usual, but his flow is so ridiculous I don't even care.

Week 5 Complete - Results on the way!

Blog by : HomeRow
0

I finished Week 5 of p90x Saturday night at my parents house. I'm actually a day into week 6 since I forgot to blog about it. I did weigh myself for the first time this week, and measured my gut starting at my belly button. The results are coming back again!

Current Weight: 178.5 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 11.5 lbs
Gut Measurement: 39 inches
Total Gut Lost: 3 inches.

No worthy news in poker, as I haven't played a whole ton lately since I was at my parents this weekend and they don't have good internet. I'm planning on watching [vital] myth's series The Big Difference this week, as it was recommended to me by a friend. I also brought home my old 2p2 book written by Dr. Alan Schoomaker. I got it years ago but never tore into it since it has a bunch of questionaires in it, but I'm gonna give it a 2nd chance. Hopefully all these, plus getting in better shape, will help me get more motivated to play more hands in the near future.

Phase 1 complete

Blog by : HomeRow
0

I finished Phase 1 of p90x this past weekend. It feels good to be 1/3 of the way done with it, but I know the hardest parts are still to come. I wish I had taken before pics for comparison, but I didn't and its all good. I've been wearing jeans I haven't worn in 4 years or more, which is pretty awesome. I gained 3 lbs this past week, probably because I ate a little too much late at night (not bad stuff, just stuff late which isn't good). It was also a recovery week, which means there was no strength training and instead had a little cardio and lots of stretching and yoga.

Current weight: 183.5 lbs
Total Weight Loss: 6.5 lbs
Weight Loss This Week: Gained 3 lbs

I'm currently past the 2nd day of Phase 2 and its gonna be tough. Instead of doing normally 12 exercises twice a day, it appears this is 24 different exercises once per day.

P90x Week 3 smashed

Blog by : HomeRow
0

Current weight: 180.5 lbs
Total Weight Loss: 9.5 lbs
Weight Loss This Week: 3.5 lbs

I completed week 3, sort of. I didn't do the Kenpo X exercise yesterday because I wasn't moving too fast when I got out of bed, and had to leave early evening to go to the Creed/Staind concert. I'll do the Kenpo tonight sometime to make up for it. I busted my ass much harder than last week during all the workouts, increasing the weight and/or reps of just about everything....and my body can feel it!

The concert was pretty good. I went with good friends and enjoyed the show. I went mostly for Staind, as I used to be and sort of still am a big fan of them. I also used to jam out some Creed tunes back in high school (for the chicks!) so I liked seeing them too. There was also a band named Like A Storm from New Zealand who seemed like they might be pretty good. I can't really tell, though, since it really sounds like a wall of noise when you don't know the songs being played. Staind opened with my favorite song of theirs, Spleen, and ended with probably my 2nd favorite song of theirs, MudShovel. In between they played all the songs everyone else knows from radio/MTV, most of which I like but became tired of back in the day. Their timing seemed a little bit off, but I still enjoyed. Creed then came out and played their 7 or 8 songs I remembered as well as some new and old songs I didn't recognize/know well. They sounded really good, and Scott Stapp is still a helluva singer. I know they have gotten a lot of bad press in the past, but they definitely put on a great show!

Poker has picked up a bit, though I'm still not playing a ton. I'm hoping to pick it up this week, since it is the Recovery Week for p90x, so I hopefully won't be totally drained for 2-4 hours after the workouts this week, which consist of a lot of the less intense stuff like Yoga, Core Synergistics, stretching, etc.

P90X week 2 complete

Blog by : HomeRow
0

Week 2 of p90x is done. I only lost a half pound but that is fine w/ me. I drank some beer on Sunday and then a decent amount on Friday night, so I don't know if that had something to do with it or not. Either way I'm feeling good and going strong still.

Current weight: 184 lbs
Total Weight Loss: 6 lbs
Weight Loss This Week: 1/2 lb

In poker news, I am going to start playing some non-cap NL again. I'm getting coaching since I'm really rusty and don't know what kind of things people are doing nowadays. I think Cap actually improved my hand-reading since so many hands hit showdown, so I'm hoping that carries over. I'm going to start at 100nl probably for this whole month and then if the results are good and I feel comfortable, back to 200NL I go, since you have to play a shit ton of hands at 100nl to make large chunks of money (or have a sick winrate, that would be fine too).

Week 1 Complete

Blog by : HomeRow

I finished week 1 last night w/ an hour of Kempo X. Its kickboxing type stuff and was kinda fun and didn't even wear me out too bad. I did hurt my elbow a little somehow, maybe hyperextending it a tad doing all the punches. I tried to not straighten all the way out but my form probably got bad at the end of some exercises. So hopefully it feels OK tomorrow as I don't want to get off track.

I've enjoyed this week quite a bit. I'm eating very healthy, haven't even splurged on any junk food or anything! I believe I can keep this up and get into decent shape finally.

Starting weight: 190 lbs
Current weight: 184.5 lbs
Total Weight Loss: 5.5 lbs

p90x

Blog by : HomeRow
0

I started the p90x workout program today. I will keep updates on here since this is my only blog, and I might as well keep myself motivated another way by having to add positive reports (and negative ones if I fall off the horse).

Week 1 starting weight: 190 lbs
Week 1 waist (belly button): 42 inches

I'm pretty out of shape. And by pretty, I mean ridiculously. My goal at the end of 3 months is to lose 20 lbs. I have no idea how much muscle I will build, so this may or may not happen. But I will try my best to do it. I want to lose more weight than that overall, but I think for 3 months this is a doable goal.

I am also going to try to get on a better overall schedule. My normal day involved me waking up at 1 or 2 pm or whenever I happened to get up, then surf some internet, possibly do a little poker, then eat something. Then I would smoke some weed, chill, maybe do some poker when the high wore off a little (bad idea), then keep playing if games are good, or quit if they sucked. Then I would download some crap off torrents, possibly watch a movie or something, smoke more, donk around in some sng's or MTT's or sometimes cash games. I'm now hoping to do more poker during the primetime hours (~7pm-11pm or whatever it is for the day), and stay away from the super turbo SNG's I enjoy (quick fun!), then hit it hard on the weekend when I'm not busy. This will be hard since its now football season and I love watching football. My goal is to make enough money in 2-3 years to buy a house. I don't know if this is feasable but I"ll give it a try.

This doesn't really have any structure, so I'll end it. I'll try to post here every few days with how I'm feeling, and post my weight etc.
