So here it is, in all it's unceremonious splendor, my first blog entry on CardRunners. This is in fact, my first blog entry on any site. I don't really keep a good record of the proceedings of my life, which is probably a shame because in my experience the recounting of events trumps the actuall enjoyment in the moment of the event most of the time. If the delay between the time I decided to start this blog and the point of it's actual debut is any indication of the frequency with which I will update it in the future, then I'm afraid that would be very bad news to any would be followers. However, I will try my best not to let my first blog entry be my last.
I thought about boring everyone with a history of how I got into poker but it's pretty much the same as everyone else. I didn't have any better ideas of what to do with my life and the idea of playing a game, making ridiculous amounts of money, and giving the finger to that professor in college who assured me, "You will end up working a normal job, nothing exciting, just going to work everyday, just like everyone else." I would like to talk about the road that led here someday but not today.
For anyone who doesn't know my normal game is 2-4 NLHE, and just to warn you this is about to turn into a brag post. I'm crushing poker right now. Killing it. I'm running at 4.9 PTBB/100 over 300k hands this year at 2-4. The game seems simple, the Regs are constanly exposing themselves as fish, the FTP red pros continue to donate on a regular basis, and as a nice addition, I seem to be coolering everyone else instead of the other way around for a change. I posted a 8 Buy-in win yesterday and a 10 Buy-in win today. I don't plan to list the actual $$ won at any time on this blog just in case non-poker friends and family read it. It's funny how I could tell a microgrinder about my daily and monthly swings, or the amount won on individual hands, and they wouldn't bat an eye. But if I told someone outside the poker world any one of those things, I would mainly get the normal reactions, mainly all pertaining to the fact that I am on a one way fast track to gambling addiction, homelessness, drug addiction, and atheism (though I'm still not sure how any of those things are specifically related to what I do).
Ok, pleny more on my mind but it's almost 4 AM. I'm going to hit some range balls with vitalMyth tomorrow, and then hopefully squeeze in a session at the Las Vegas Table Tennis Club with Pooruser before heading to Lake Tahoe for Snowboarding this Weekend. In the meantime, run good!
