So the first week of this little challenge has went pretty well so far. I am up around $315 including RB. I have been running about even EV so I am feeling confident in my play through the first 500 sngs or so. Not really much else to talk about was just in between sessions and decide to update to help motivate myslef to play a few more sessions tonight... GL at the tables

Handling Variance

I know that is a very common subject heading, but I have been going through a pretty rough downswing over the past 1000 or so tournys. Before i decided to take poker seriously again I had a very big problem with tilting and bankroll management. For probably 3 years I would play often win often and blow my account often. I had no control over tilt and played drunk way to often. I have finally started getting my tilt under control and doing very well because of it. In the beginning I had won very consistently with very few downswings to talk about. My ROI for sngs was roughly 14% not including RB. It was not until I started playing full time, due to random life changes, that I experience my first big downswing. It really has been tough to put in the hours due to that fear that I will not come out of it and that I will get tilted to the point that I will blow all my money again, which I can not afford at the time. Basically what I have decided to do it take a majority of my money off online and start fresh working my way up the stakes and setting a personal challenge for myself.

I have decided to leave $1,000 online as my new bankroll and try to run it up to 50k playing only SNGs. I will be starting out at the $10 level and will be 16 tabling in block sessions. I have no time table for this, just trying to keep myself motivated to put in the hours and have found these little things do help me quite a bit.

I was wondering what other thing the poker community uses to keep themselves motivated and grinding through the downswings as well? If anyone has any good ideas feel free to post in the comments. Thanks alot guys and gl at the tables.
