I thought as the new academic year was starting i'de like to start a blog and now is as good a time as any. From a poker point of view, i started playing last summer on £5 home games and thought it was a bit of a laugh and nothing more than a get drunk social thing with friends. This attitude stayed the same until the new year when i suddenly realised there could be more to poker than just a drunk social with friends after watching a friends copy of the 2007 WSOP.

I then deposited $200 in stars and put $100 of it down on a 0.5/1 table. I ofcourse busted. I must have been running at 60/0/0 and probably stacked off with a2o on a ak10ssx board. Regardless it got me wanting to learn more. I started learning tournament play as well as PLO as my main games and managed to get a bankroll to around $7000 by the start of the summer. Well as a relatively poor student i decided i might as well splash out and treat myself. Which i did to an extreme leaving my bankroll with just $1000. I travelled pretty much around the world during the summer which has got to be one of the best times of my life. I went to Madeira, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, China. I also brought a ps3 with games, brand new sony Vaio laptop, Shisha (hookah) set, and a new wardrobe. So i just thought, well screw it im just going to spend 1/2 a year ago and ill build it back up to where i was before.

Unfortunately the doomswitch soon hit me back. It didnt help with my now very limited BR that i spunked off $400 in a $4/$4 live game as soon as i got back leaving me with a measly $600 to rebuild. With a slight tournament burnout and the inability to not go mental at all of the 60/5 nut-peddling fish at micro PLO i decided that NLHE would be my main game. So i watched a few CR vids, assumed, micros cant be too tough and sat down. Unfortunately it seems there are some major leaks in my game as well as the inevitable downswing of my life which has resulted in me being roughly 36 buyins below expectation to date.

Regardless in a way im just very happy that this brutal downswing happened now after i spent out on all the summer luxuries, but still its a sad sight knowing after 50,000 hands i havnt actually earnt a penny on cash. Ill upgrade with a graph when im on my computer next time.

So now my plan of action is to really focus and get working on my game. Ill be watching verneers series and hopefully update you soon! Until then its multi-tabling stars 10nl full ring to get back to having a $500 bankroll!
