playing well, still running badly

Blog by : Eric Liu

For the last few days I've broken my 25/50 only promise again and again to play Ziigmund at 300/600 and more 200/400 PLO. I ran badly again so I won't waste your time with suckout and setup hands, it was a lot of that and nothing else. There were more setups than anything (AAxx vs QcJJcx on AcJ9c flop and such). There was one amusing hand tho:

Apparently I need 100% equity on the turn to win a hand!

As far as weightloss goes, I have no idea how many pounds I've lost or gained, as I have been drinking tons and tons of water after getting back into exercising again, and as many of you know water weight can really make u oscillate with 6 pounds of variance. Hopefully we'll see a general decreasing trend tho, something that looks like my recent PT graph would do nicely.

Lastly, my stupid cat ate a teabag wrapper, and was choking on it for nearly 2 minutes today. I almost had to take him to the vet but he managed to barf it up along with some other unpleasant smelling nonsense. Good thing hes still cute or else I'd kick this sucker out of the house!

the "zone" diet

Blog by : Eric Liu
0

So I was talking to my friend Di Dang (Urindanger on FTP) about my weightloss bet, and he was kind enough to send me a book as well as provide me with a lot of good info about the "zone" diet. I've never been on any sort of strict diet before, as I used to be a swimmer, so I basically ate everything and still stayed in shape (ahh the good ol days). I'm a little skeptical but willing to give it a try, even though it means giving up rice for 2 whole months, which for an asian is like giving up oxygen. Any opinions on the zone diet would be very much appreciated.

As far as poker goes, I think I can sum it up in one hand:

I guess its my fault for not sticking to my strictly 25/50 plan, but I couldn't resist playing this guy. PLO has such sick variance, ick.

I'm back in Durham, NC so if anyone is around here gimme a holla and we can hang out.

Lastly, I wanted to leave you all with some pics of my cat, because he is cute and because Ryan has pics of hot girls in all his blog posts, and that seems to work.

Weightloss bet!

Blog by : Eric Liu
0

I'm entering into a 20k weightloss bet with my friend Clay (MezmerizePLZ on stars). I need to hit 170 lbs by March 20th or else I lose 20k to him. He needs to hit his goal by the same time or else he owes me 20k also. So basically...if we are both motivated none of us lose, if we are both fat bums none of us lose. There's NO WAY I'm going to lose 20k by being fat tho, so I'm going to start eating healthy and getting back into my old workout routine from now on. This doesn't bode well for my planned vacations either, as I will have to be eating pine nuts and grass in Brazil and on my Caribbean cruise in March. Oh well, a bets a bet!

update:

heres a pic of my weight along with my ugly toes (my toes don't actually look like that, theyre just trying to grip the glass ~_~).

205.4 lbs is the heaviest I've ever been I think, and in order to hit my goal, I have to lose an average of .60 lbs every day. Which means no slacking...ugh. I don't know what Clay weighs yet but once I get a pic of his scale im gonna post that here so he can't cheat!

Running terrible at 200/400 PLO

Blog by : Eric Liu

Yesterday was my last day at Borgata--my was it a terrible one. I got up in the morning looking for some good online games, and sure enough I found one. Rafrock, a known hit and runner at the nosebleeds challenged me to HU at 200/400 NLHE, and I certainly could not refuse that, even though he is known to hit and run. After building my stack up to 100k, I lost a few medium sized pots and we were about even with 60k each. Then this pot happened:

Needless to say, he packed up and instaleft.

Ok, thats fine, no big deal. Most of it was his money anyways. Then I decided to play some 200/400 PLO vs lucky GUS and the usual PLO crowd, and ran like absolute garbage:

I think out of all these hands, the only one I played badly was the last one. I hope that's understandable because I was on raging monkey tilt when that hand happened. Total damage assessment: -200k on the day.

I'm going back to Durham for 2 weeks before I leave for Brazil, and I think I'm going to play more 25/50 NL for the rest of the month and look for REALLY good spots in shorthanded nosebleed games. I really cant tolerate 3 or 4 more days of variance like this.

Going to Borgata for 3 days

Blog by : Eric Liu

I'm about to head to Brazil on January 31st, as Goncalo (muchbetter) on Stars invited a few of us to stay with him at Rio De Janiero for Carnaval. Before I do that though, I'm going to head out to the Borgata tomorrow afternoon. I'll be leaving on Friday night, so if you guys are there and see me make sure to say high :). As far as poker goes, I've been unstoppable, sucking out in almost every single pot I play when I'm behind. Feels good to run well!

Here's a funny one:

Would've been cooler had I won with ace high, but I'm not complaining.

First blog ever

Blog by : Eric Liu
0

I've never written a blog. I remember when facebook first came out I thought it was pretty cool, but then it expanded to all these schools and started having ridiculous nonsense like zombies biting you and random people poking you, which is alright I guess but then when I try to bite some other people to turn into zombies I'd have to install some special zombie game. I said no thanks, and condemned facebook forever. This may seem pretty irrelevant to why I've never blogged, and in reality it is, but I seem to have mentally grouped all these "cute" online things like blogs and facebook and forums together, and just loathed all of them. Well lately I realized that I'm actually a hypocrite, because I've been part of online forum communities for over a year, and I post on liquidpoker.net">http://liquidpoker.net/">liquidpoker.net a lot and love the community there. Which is why i decided to start a blog. Well, that and also the fact that CR is making me ;)

Anyways, I just got back from PCA, and I definitely have mixed feelings. The trip started off as a monumental epic failure, with me hopping on an old propeller plane owned by "bahamasair" that seemed struggle to stay together as every turn of the propeller threatened to break it...ugh. When I landed, I wasn't able to get my luggage--little did I know I'd have to wait 5 days before I received it. When I arrived at my "upgraded" room @ royal towers, it was modest at best and certainly not worth the money I paid.

The next few days consisted of a lot of poker playing in dirty shirts, and then wearing shirts with "atlantis" on the front and the same pairs of jeans over and over again. That, and purchasing 25 dollar paninis that didn't have much taste. I was getting owned so hard by the stupid island!

On Thursday I dropped 20k in the big cash game, and then lost 15k more doing PLO flips with Apathy. But alas, all was not lost! The next day I got my luggage back, went jetskiing, swimming, and chilled on the beach. I also went to MESA grill, which is this awesome southwestern themed restaraunt with delicious spicy food--I highly recommend it. I stayed over at my friend's place in Reef Towers, which is loads better than Royal Towers. Before I could vow never to return to the stupid island again, I ended up planning for next year. Sicklyfe.
