Sleep and coaching

0

So last night was pretty terrible sleep wise. I went to bed at 3 and got up at 11:45, I did feel refreshed but definitely still having massive insomnia issues.

With that said, today I went grocery shopping. It was quite strange only buying brown rice and some almost gluten free spaghetti for my grains. I bought lots of vegetables, fruits, and nuts. It was different but refreshing eating mostly very healthy whole food. I will continue to log my sleep and how it changes based on my diet.

That was the interesting part the next is talking about coaching and how I personally feel about it since I am a coach myself.

For starters, if I did not coach and all of my income came from grinding more than 40 hours a week, I think I would hate poker. I can't take all the lonely unfilledness of playing, I enjoy it but not that much. While poker is my passion, coaching poker is my ultimate passion. I truly want to see my students and other friends succeed when I try to help them. There are definitely people who are intolerably greedy and plague any industry sadly. Its one of the main reasons I work for myself now and no one else. I can't stand being unaccountable for my all actions. How do we fix the industry so there are less greedy people out there who stain the profession?

I have some ideas but ideas can only go so far. We can't really blame someone for ridiculous marketing aspects or charging way too much for their services. What we can do is make sure that consumers are given true information and facts. Testimonials are good but only if they are a true indication of the coache's worth. The real question is how do we determine this?

Verneer brought up many good points about how coaching is completely different from playing. This is very true and as he said it is very hard to determine the value of a coach. Coaching is sales so again we can't blame people for charging too much but the idea of charging the hourly amount if the coach were playing makes no sense at all. I have no clue how it should be determined but this is definitely not the best way.

Any thoughts to help such a misunderstood and abused industry?
