Blah played like crap 8/14/12 Review

Blog by : Djross13

Played only for 1.5 hours today, got insanely tilted after some standard spots. Misplayed quite a few of them which is unfortunate but a good learning experience none the less. Either way not much went my way besides some coinflips.

I made some bad raises preflop with some very active players behind that hate folding post so I did not adjust to some regs that hate folding postflop. Not very hard to beat unless you don't make hands and I did make some thin barrels which got raped by their ridiculous style of not folding turns or flop. Thats all my fault and just really frustrating I let that get the best of me today.

This hand is just an abomination on turn imo but villain is just insane, 85/55/30 clicks buttons like crazy but seems to be own me everytime. Pretty obv in hind sight he has a straight and is just inducing, Not happy here with my play at all.

http://weaktight.com/4919635

Pre is obv standard, cant see any reason to not 3 bet. I think I butchered flop even though the villain will be raising so wide and I think this slightly better than bet/calling. Once I c/c flop turn is standard since he barrels so much but super unlucky to run into 77, def a small part of his wide ridiculous range.

http://weaktight.com/4919641

I feel this hand is standard and probably more of the ran into top of his range but his pot bet on turn did make me rethink my shove. Villain was very aggro and double barreling a ton.

http://weaktight.com/4919643

I do feel I played this hand well, especially preflop call and the check on the flop since his range is so tight and once he checks flop, he is c/fing a ton. Easy bet on turn and river once flop checks through. I think I should have sized river larger.

Not too many other interesting hands, some failed bluffs against regs that hate folding. I learned some very good information through those pots but frustrating to have just about everything in your game not work to some degree.

Review of today's sessions (hopefully doing more of this in the future)

Blog by : Djross13

I read somewhere its a good idea to review sessions afterwards so you don't carry it you all day or through sleep. So I hope to do lots of these and really work on my game through this as well allowing my brain to shut up for once after a session.

Played 2 sessions today each about 2 hours, normally I don't like how I played so long but its good to keep pushing my B and C game to the limit. This allows me to play better when I am not at my 100% which was a given since I was tired. So I definitely sacrficed some EV today to play some hands. That said I think I played really well with some definite mistakes that cost me but such is the learning process.

Lots of standard spots today but there were some interesting spots.

http://weaktight.com/4917269

I like my play against quite a few players but against this player who was incredibly straight forward post I hate my play, he has a T here such a high % where as most players are just FOS. Not happy with my raise at all.

http://weaktight.com/4917270

I like my play here as well on turn and flop but river is where things get tricky. I like to think this is a good thin v-bet but probably too thin against anyone decent. Strange spot on river, did not expect him to be that strong.

http://weaktight.com/4917272

Another standard spot until river. Villain is a loose passive player, I forget his stats. Very check/call happy unless he has a very strong made hand. I think giving up river is best but makes me wonder if this is not a tripple barrel even though every draw misses.

http://weaktight.com/4917274

Normally I am not a fan of nut blocker shenanigans but this is a pretty cool spot with a villain with lots of history. He plays 28/20/10 and is really aggressive postflop. somewhat similar to my style, our stats are simliar as well. He donks quite a bit in 3 bet pots into the pfr where he thinks the pfr missed which is a great strategy against a lot of players. He will do this with hands with equity but not the hands that he wants to get AI like good flush drwas and sets. Easy call on the flop, not planning on folding and doing some wierd stuff when the flush hits since he has really no good flush draws in his donking range. Once turn hits and he makes this sizing, really easy shove and I expect to win such a high % and he rarely has a flush, let alone one that can call my raise. It does suck since some players will think the same about my range but I think his range is so air heavy here this play is very +EV.

http://weaktight.com/4917277

Another interesting spot against same villain. I don't like 4 betting given stack sizes and especially once the other player cold calls who is very loose preflop and post. Flop is interesting in that I can't rep much as far as a 3 goes but once the other player calls his c-bet, I really can't be doing this with a bluff and he can't fight back too much for fear of the other player having a 3 that slowplayed. While the other player can't have a 3, I am still very happy against his wide weak range for flatting this flop. Turn is probably where I misplayed I think I should check back instead of shove since there are really no rivers I hate and I think i have the best hand pretty much everytime so maybe check back is better since the player's range is so weak.

http://weaktight.com/4917279

Standard spot once villain flats flop, no reason to do anything but pot. Really liked how I played this especially given villain. This coudl be a really bad 3 bet against players but against villain its perfect. Since he plays really straight forward postflop in my experience so far. Not a very interesting hand but I think this is where you make a lot of money against regs is by 3 betting hands that flop well with the initative and then being very aggressive.

Great Success! Almost done with my basic wardrobe.

Blog by : Djross13

Well not quite. That probably needs explaining. I finally figured out what I want to wear, at least for now. I realized since I am more or less a business owner in regards to the coaching that I need to dress like one. Furthermore, I am 24 years old, whether thats old or young to some people, thats old enough to dress like a man while I am working even if its mostly from home or traveling.

So, I am going to dress like a man, I also look quite young for my age which is a plus and minus depending on the situation, so dressing older helps my appearance. It also helps with my confidence, or rather I just feel awesome when I spend a bit of time making sure I look great. It might sound cheesy but you would be amazed at what dressing well will do for you especially on a day where you feel like crap.

So given all that, my wardrobe is going to be a pretty happy medium between casual and dressy until I flesh it out more. More or less all neutral colors, like blue, navy, light blue, white for dress shirts that are custom made since I gave up on off the rack for my body frame. Same idea for pants, chinos and some trousers in neutral colors, very easy to coordinate but I won't be standing out a lot which is awesome. I am on the hunt right now for several lightly constructed blazers in the same neutral colors, navy, grey, darker grey, maybe a khaki. Finally since black is more dressy and a lot harder to coordinate, I have brown bluchers but are not casual really, again walking that line between casual and dressy, a brown simple dress watch and then your typical brown belt that is somewhat larger. That said I will be buying the black counterparts soon, just not at the moment.

More or less, looking awesome but not ridiculous and definitely grown up. If anyone thinks im a bit crazy for talking so much about this and hates shopping then I have a peace offering so to say. I fucking hate shopping but I can't stand wearing ill fitting clothes even more. So at first I shopped a lot, it was pretty awkward but after realizing most of the stuff I am going to buy is either custom made or can be bought online. If you hate shopping as much as I do, check out zappos.com. Free shipping as long you buy a piece of clothing and it ships within 1 day and free shipping for returns, fucking awesome. Shopping is somewhat fun on the internet since you can do it whenever.

Either way, consider upping your style if out of college. That said though I am a bit strange and enjoy learning a lot so learning about this stuff was one crazy experience.

On a poker related note, I have not played much lately because of the new update on merge, no HUD I will be taking a week off or so.

Coming Full Circle and Stress

Blog by : Djross13
0

Life is pretty interesting I have found after the aftermath of my loss. I experienced tremendous growth, probably more than anyone I know has experienced in the course of a few months. I redefined how I look at life in many aspects

Loss
Anger
Nutrition
Sleep
Clothes/Style
Finances
Love
Time

Probably some others I am forgetting, more or less insane growth and change. I am slowly coming full circle with this as I near the time I will be finalizing my plans to leave the US and finally tell my parents of my new profession.

However sometimes all good things must end or at least stop. The last week or two I went through a lot of stress which affected my game as well my as my life in general. I tend to think a lot, I mean a lot when I am stressed to the point of not sleeping. Its pretty amazing to go from being almost inner peace to pure chaos again. It really puts things into perspective when I really think about why I am stressed.

I realized that I was not doing things for myself and was doing lots of things that caused stress. I mentioned earlier that I was changing my style and purged my wardrobe. This has been the most challenging change yet since there are so many stigams attached to a male that cares about how he looks in the US. Another reason I am pretty done with this ridiculous country and its ideals. More or less I have no desire to wear clothes that don't fit me well at all anymore, I have actually respect for myself and I deserve better than that. I guess my point is that change can be hard if you want validation from others and thats not why I am doing this, nonetheless it can really make you think twice. You really have to do it for yourself and not anyone else. Thats why change can be so hard and stressful if you are not confident in who you are or your decisions.

Issues with Camtasia Studio, Clothing and Finances

Blog by : Djross13
0

So for whatever reason after 5 seconds of audio using the web cam in camtasia studio it stops recording. So no more video logs until I solve this issue.

Until then, its back to writing, yay!?

Anyway, I have been redefining each part of my life since January this year. My latest project was giving away around 80% of my clothes and then buying new ones that I actually like and fit well. It was pretty interesting learning about everything that is associated with dressing nice, not fashion. Lots of learning experiences and lots of frustration trying to buy nice fitting clothes for someone whos quite slim but somewhat athletic, definitely a minority in the US as far as I can tell.

I am also planning a trip to both Vancouver and Thailand, which should be fun. I need to make sure that I am not spending a ton of money though, still lots of thinking to be done there and about my finances in general.

Getting my finances where I want them to be is my next project I think. I have a retirement fund set up but nothing crazy and not a lot of thought put into it. I have something which is good for my age at 24 but now that I am actually acculumating wealth I need to be a bit more purposeful. I have also never used a credit card and that will be changing after doing some reading about how I can leverage them since I would never keepa balance on it.

Any suggestions on which ones are best for travel, like for frequent flier miles and other travel related things?

Amazing how fast things change... Revised Goals

Blog by : Djross13
0

"Lets see I am late to the whole New Years resolution but I do have some pretty lofty goals that I will accomplish this year.

Lets start with the fun stuff...

Personal goals

Nissan GTR, by August 2012
Figure out my ideal romantic relationship for this stage of my life

Continue to volunteer in various organizations
Become incredibly involved in Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio

Health/Fitness Goals

Start Boxing

24 quickies per year, 2 per month

60 hours per month
Increase hourly to 75 once my playing hourly is 75 dollars per hour
Continue to critique my methods and professionalism

Develop fact finder for potential clients

Business

Create LLC for tax purposes

I will add more probably but the bulk of my goals. Gl to everyone who has goals this year."

Today will be writing since its pretty hard to do this in a video format. I will be revising pretty much all my goals, amazing how much a person can change in 4 months.

As mentioned earlier, the nissan GTR is not a goal at all anymore. I realized I actually hate driving for the most part unless its for purely adrenaline but I will be buying something new relatively soon, my old honda accord from 2002 is quite old.

The next goal about my ideal relationship is somewhat the same but different as well. Since I am so happy with my current life, I don't feel the need to define my ideal relationship, definitions are not something that I need anymore especially when it comes to love, I will just love.

Ironically I still volunteer but only in a few organizations, most of my volunteering was a by product of me being starved for love so I would try to help as many peopl as I could even if I did not enjoy it that much. I am a member of Rotoract which has been awesome so far and its my most involved group at the moment.

My health goals are relatively the same except I am finally at peace with how my body currently looks at 150 pounds about 10% body fat, I want to be slightly larger but I am quite happy right now as well. I am still continually improving my sleeping and eating habits but I also don't let myself be discouraged if I decide to adhere from my casual routine of my current diet and going to bed around 12:30-1 and getting up at 9 on the weekdays. I decided to give up on boxing for now, instead I think I will start to swim again as I read on the best way to exercise and not get bored.

Cardrunners will be about in line but at the moment I will just make videos according to how I feel and of course enough so that Alex won't kill me. That said though, I feel great and my current series with Verneer has been great and definitely has not been a grind at all, thank you Pawel for the help in motivation.

Playing is about the same as well, getting it around 20-30k hands per month depending on the month. I don't try to force volume and with the current news of PS
Coaching has changed derastically as I have become involved in a staking site called shark staking. At this point I only plan on coaching so many students and I am not sure of the hours yet. I am very excited though to be part of shark staking so far and I want to continue to provide excellent service to them. I did increase my price which I am still unsure if that price is fair based on my abilities. Its hard to say at this point.

As a last note, I really don't have goals at the moment I am doing mostly what I feel is right in my heart as strange as that sounds. I do have some general goals but I have no attachment to them whether I fufill them or not. The biggest one is to continue to change negativity into passion for others.
