St. Patrick's Day Massacre!

Blog by : DamnRinger
0

So being the 24 year old kid straight outta college that i am...

I went out to an awesome all day/night bar. It was the rich and bennett charlotte st. patty's day crawl. So i start drinking at 1 and get housed by around 3. Meanwhile its pouring down rain but we say fuck it we are gonna do this crawl, so of course we are soaking by the time. anyways we had an awesome time and at about 8pm i start realizing that i'm not in college anymore and all day drinking festivals are not within my capabilities anymore. So i end up being so drunk and just ducking out of the bar and hoping in a cab by myselfa nd heading home.

So this is where it gets really fun... i get home and of course what's the first thing my drunk ass does? opens full tilt.

I was too drunk to sit and hang with my friends in the bar, but i wasn't too drunk to play online... weird.

So usually this is a bad decision, not today tho. Someone must have been doing the same thing i did cause the guy who sits on the other end of the 100plo hu match is clearly shitfaced (and i know this being about 14 beers deep). So i stack him once and i actually ended up sucking out on him slightly but it was a prety marginal omaha situation where his range was certainly wide enough for me to merit calling with a wrap/flush draw on the turn. So i stack him there... he insta rebuys. From this point on, he proceeds to get all his money in about every 3rd hand. I heat up and start just litereally stacking him back to the stone age and every time he stacks off he says 'fu bitch' and reloads. My avatar is a girl so at this point i decide to start using this to my advantage and i start pretending like i'm a girl taking all his money saying stuff like 'the way you stack off there was cute, you must be hot'. So i have him FIRED up that he's losing, and losing to a 'girl'.

All said and done when the dust settles, i've taken $1060 off of him. He types 'FUCK YOU SLUT' and just leaves. At this point, i'm in shock that i've just taken over 10 buyins off of one player in the matter of about 50 minutes. Awesome... Playing on St. Patrick's Day = +EV.

Anyways, i'll have my march graph soon... and it will prolly look very different from my last few months graphs. But it looks like it's still going to be a winning month.

And January Comes to a Close...

Blog by : DamnRinger

I have finally gotten my bankroll to where i can play 200nl comfortably. I am not however doing it yet. I think i need to give myself a little mental edge before i do that. So i will gradually slip into 200nl. Hopefully being completely there by the end of feburary. I ran sick in january at 100nl. I played about 15k hands and managed to run at 7.4bb/100. This is quite amazing and definitely the best i've run at any level in a month. I feel my skills are really starting to get great. I am playing the best poker i've ever played. Anyways, here's the PT info... (i just used a graph vs. time in PT cause i didn't feel like getting poker grapher but you get the point)

for whatever reason these graphs are blurry... so just right click and choose 'view image' if you have mozilla.

Overall i managed to avoid KK vs. AA pre-flop allins and avoid set over set hands. With all that not nailing me... my profit was through the roof. Anyways, the goal of getting to 2/4 by the end of this year is well on its way and i've never felt better about my game.

Merry Christmas, Ho.

Blog by : DamnRinger

Merry Christmas.

I got a bunch of work cloths, honestly the nicest thing for christmas was giving my girlfriend her wii. She loved it and i thought it was a pretty sweet gift. It was a BITCH to get however.... but alas i got it. Anyways this is the first time my parents have gotten to meet my dog and they seem to be taking kindly to him. He's pretty much impossible to dislike. He's adorable and well tempered. Alright enough gay crap.

I managed to fit in about 1600 hands today, and overall i was playing really well. I was playing a little more aggressive than i usually do for some reason, and i actually really like the play. I seemed to feel it today and enjoy being the bully of the table. Anyways, There's not too many hands to talk about. But i did put together my graph for decemeber so far at 100nl. My BR is close to being able to take the step up to 200nl. This is still putting me behind my goal. My goal at the beginning of the year when i was playing 25nl was to get to 400nl by the time the year ended. Well i cashed money out for car payments so it ain't gonna happen. So that's gonna be my year resolution in 2008. I want to be 8-tabling 400nl FR by the time 2008 ends. Hold me to that. 400nl in my head is just the next level of poker. 200nl is the same as 100nl i just need the money for it. I feel like i'm gonna have to step into that next thought bracket to beat 400nl and i'm kind of excited about getting there. So i got a year to mentally get there. Anyways. That's all i got today.

here's the Graph. (right click on it and chose 'view image' to see it more clearly.)

His line didn't make sense to me. So i decided to shove on him and look him up. He flipped AK and i was delighted until the river obviously. I liked my read and thought i played the hand very well. I usually have a tough time spotting the difference between air and an overpair here but this one seemed crystal clear. So maybe i am getting better.

This is the story of my day today. Just AWFUL. I get two donkey to want to put to their money in here and they suck out. I had nutz as a decent player before this hand... but an overcall with AK here is suicide against my range so i edited my note.

This is a suckout i put on yesterday but i really still think my line is a solid one. I think with my 15/10/3 image i don't get looked up here by AA on a dry board more than enough times to makes this a profitable shove. A little history, me and nightmare have played a good number of hands together. A few thousand, he's got a very solid aggressive style. But i have seen him make laydowns before. I think he views me as a tight player which is what i want to make this kind of move. here's the hand.

Obviously i sucked out. I enjoyed it and apparently he hadn't been paying attention to who i was cause he proceeded to call me a donkey and tell me how dumb that kind of move was. Where in actuality i don't ever make that shove without a 9, boat or air. I think the majority being the 9 or the boat. I think it was a donkey call by him. But certainly borderline. let me know if you think that's a big mistake by me with how much is invested. If its a snap call more than 50% of the time i think i made a mistake. But i don't think it is.

I'll try to make an ongoing graph of my christmas downtime so i can keep track of how this focus on poker is going. Later guys.

Roller Coaster Day

Blog by : DamnRinger

So i never was down today more than $200 and never up more than $200 and ended up a whopping $80 after a few hours of 8 tabling. I found a really soft 160nl table today in the am with only one regular and he was one of the really weak regulars. It was a very solid game and i kinda bulldozed over it. That game is turning into CR training ground. Half of the regulars are CR members and very solid. Without a donkey at the table, its a tough game to see any profit from. However, its great for learning from great players for a pretty cheap price. I'd have to guess that a 1000nl game wouldn't play much harder as it is certainly harder than the 400nl games i've sat at in the past. Seems like Overbet56 and a guy named Batya are just running the thing over. Overbet is having a VERY impressive run if my datamine tells me the truth and from playing with him i think it is. I am having to adjust my play to specific players and that's something i've never really had to do. On the other 7 tables, i had 100nl FR going which is just a kind of cruise control game. There's really never a need to get fancy on those tables. People just odn't think on the next level and shortstacks seem to just give their money away. It seems there is still a cash game league going for CR and its on the 160nl tables... the prize is cash tho.

Here's some interesting hands from today:

I think i should fold this river... as there's nothing for him to be representing other than a set or straight or a missed KT. Stupid call on a solid player. I should know better.

Its the cooler of the century... I think my line on this hand is beautiful and gets a call from Kx 100% of the time and maybe even a Q. I know that i didn't 3-bet pre- or bet the flop or turn but i think under the circumstances, this was a pretty good play. I was quite surprised when he flipped up a 4th 2.

What's happenin guys.

I'm gonna put my blog here. Basically a little about myself, i have been playing poker for about 5 years now. Very seriously for about 1 year. I graduated from VT and now live in charlotte, nc. I play 100nl full ring and 160nl deep 6-max tables. Hopefully i can keep this up to date with some interesting stuff, For the time being however i don't have anything really interesting to say at the moment. So you guys will just have to hold your horses.
