Hey everyone,
So, after being on a ~30 buyin downswing in PLO25 over the past week, I decided to purchase a CR subscription last night. I do think I have a good edge at this level, but I tilt very easily and make a lot of lazy/spewy plays when I get bored of the grind, which combined with running bad, leads to large downswings. I mean I ran 6 buyins below expectation yesterday, but instead I lost 11 because I began to tilt.
Anyways, I don't expect anyone to read this, but this is more for me to track my progress/thoughts and for any of my friends who might be interested in reading.
So I thought it would be nice just to give some history on how I got into poker. About 2-3 years ago I started seeing the World Poker Tour on TV and obviously got hooked. I once thought Gus Hansen was a genius, but it's funny how once you start diving deeper into something, you realize how little the general public knows about specific things (i.e. Gus Hansen is not that great imo, and sometimes pretty awful.)
So about 2 years ago, I got really into the "play chip" thing on Full Tilt. (haha i know). Anyways, I was one of the top winners at that crap, and was consistently owning people at the highest play chip levels. So of course, I assumed I was pretty good.. Last December 2007, I decided to deposit about ~200 on Full Tilt and immediately started playing NL25 and PLO25 because I figured it was full of fish, and hell, I was destroying the biggest play chip games!!
So... umm yah, turns out I was a mega fish. The very next day after depositing, my bankroll was ~20. But man, that night was a sick roller coaster, and I felt such a huge rush it was amazing. 25 dollars isn't a lot for me, but to be "gambling" with it, at least for me, was a sick feeling. A good friend of mine (the only one I have who plays poker for real money) told me to grind the SNGs..... so I did, grinding the $2 SNGs because they were easy. With bonuses, etc. I built my bankroll back to about ~100. Anyways, the $5 SNGs were soft, but not very profitable, so I started multi-tabling NL10. Which I was prob breakeven at..... but when I hit 200 or so, I finally decided to purchase Poker Tracker and Ace HUD, and once I got that, I started to grind and do better obv because I now have stats on people!
Once I hit about maybe ~300 or so, I realized NL was soososos boring, and made the switch to PLO full time... I built my roll up to about 1900 last Monday, but then ran sick bad which led to massive tilt, and I dropped about 20 buyins over the course of 2 days....... then I dropped another 10 buyins yesterday...... where again I ran like crap and tilted, and so I decided that before I spewed away another 267.99, that spew money would be better spent on a CR subscription.
So here I am.... bankroll sits at about ~915 or so, with ~350 coming in for rakeback next month, so I have a decent roll to continue multi-tabling PLO25. I do feel I am one of the best players at that level when I don't tilt. My goal is to be a winning, multi-tabling reg at PLO100 by end August (before school starts). And eventually, I'd like to be crushing PLO1000 by August 2009 (don't know how realistic this is, because I'm not playing full time). My dream eventually is to be a reg in the biggest PLO games in a few years, just because I love trying to be the best at something, and I really love this game.
Anyways, the plan is to ~8-table the PLO25 games till I hit at least ~2500, and then take a shot at the PLO 50 games (I'm a huge bankroll nit). I see soooo many fish at that level, and I don't think it's much toughe than PLO25 at all, just that I want to have a sufficient bankroll to handle any swings tilt might induce lololol.
Okay so this was a pretty boring post, but yah, glad to be a part of the CR community.
