Small Mistakes Led to a Terrible Day

0

Hey guys, well I am super frustrated with yesterday's poker. There were a ton of waiting lists at 100nl, so I sort of decided to play 200nl because the games were open. I am finally well rolled for this decision, but I really was not ready. As you guys know from reading this blog, I am a complete bankroll nit, and I for a multitude of reasons and flaws take a really long time moving up in levels. This is definitely my biggest weakness as a player; knowing when to take shots at bigger games and to have the right mindset when doing so. I definitely did not have the right mindset, I did not do work beforehand to find out who the best players are and to study their games more, on top of that as you will see with TT and 33, I made small mistakes that I would not have made with 100% focus and then they cost me 2 stacks. I ended up only playing 250 hands of 1-2 and lost 550, and then lost another 3bi at 100nl after 6k hands by the end of the day. While reviewing these hands I made a lot more mistakes then I am used to during my sessions and I have to think that I was not mentally positive as I should have been throughout the night, especially considering how great poker has been going for the last two months. I plan on coming back strong today.

The rest of the hand is just standard, but I have been working really hard on this preflop fold. I know for a lot of people this is really simple and it might just look like I am overplaying the importance here because I got set over setted, but my friends have proven to me that this is a losing play even if I am making some good postflop moves when I miss so even though it is against my nature as a poker player I have been trying to fold here and frustrating when I don't. The times that I would call is 1) if there are at least two people in the pot, 2) if there is a fish in the bb, 3) if it is against a super tight player in early position where my implied odds are much stronger

So I am trying to get my tables organized, didnt realized I had 3 seconds left and made my standard 3bet, except against about 5% of players and he was one of them, sucks that a small mistake is punished completely again.

Close spot, but this player was the reason I was sitting at this table and I thought he had a ton of bluffs and he could not define my range well so I think the call is slightly +EV

Definitely the correct guy to double barrel on this board, just can't believe he held on on the turn.

http://weaktight.com/4911618

This is a frustration play, I don't mind the squeeze at all, but when he makes a pot committing 4bet here, I am just praying to be in a race with AK, and I need to find a fold with my jacks, really poor poor play by me

http://weaktight.com/4911619

Just trying to push too hard here to make moves and make buyins back, just not a great timed spot here.

http://weaktight.com/4911620

If this was against a more standard opponent I might have found a fold here, but he and I have so much history and actually I have never seen him take this line before which obviously makes it quite polarized but he has so many bluffs here and was in a particularly big 3betting mood this session so cooler here

http://weaktight.com/4911621

Ughhh cmon, btw he was a 3betting monkey, and even moreso this session than most

http://weaktight.com/4911622

Of course

http://weaktight.com/4911624

Lol, somehow he is the second biggest winner at my level, but lord knows what he is doing here, I can only call him with better or flips, really makes no sense there are so many other better ways to make this play, especially against an aggro player like me.

http://weaktight.com/4911625

Unlucky to run into the top of his range with such a big hand

http://weaktight.com/4911627

Based on the last 15 minutes of history, it was crazy unlucky for him to actually pick up a hand here, I am almost positive he gets in AJ, 55 etc

KK < QQ

At first I was going to question what I was doing here because he would not bluff so little on the river, but this guy was a 52/40 type player so he definitely could make my life difficult on the river with some mergy bets, as well as call off with worse on this turn, so I don't mind my play, if I did not pick up the flush draw I probably would call turn and fold river but this gave me enough equity to push this play.

Super fish, 90% vpip, but I think if I am playing my absolute best I can save 24bbs here, I mean he almost snap jammed here, I do think I need to bet river here for value no question, just need to find a fold.

http://weaktight.com/4911632

Had so many hands going on during this one that I was not giving it nearly my full attention and when this is the case, I definitely need to make this fold given how little I know about my opponent, and how I have been zoned out on the hand

http://weaktight.com/4911634

Lol, one of those frustrating spots where he put me on Kx, until the river when he changed his mind and he put me on a missed draw lol and called with 2 seconds left, totally fine with my play here.

http://weaktight.com/4911635

I was expecting him to shove here with just about his whole range so I was totally happy to call off here.

http://weaktight.com/4911635

I think my friends made a good point about my play here, even though players can 3bet bluff this flop, they almost never continue on the turn so there really is no point to slowplaying here, as played I am fine with it but I prefer just 4bet jamming much more after talking to them

http://weaktight.com/4911637

Lord

http://weaktight.com/4911639

Just a frustration call from the way the hole day went, I was super happy to call down if another heart didn't hit the board, I still called because this guy is a nut fish, but obviously I should be folding here, and I snap quit the session and screamed for five minutes after this play

http://weaktight.com/4911640

Ughh, I have the one hand possible in my range that I cannot beat his hand with

I plan on grinding a lot of poker this afternoon, and then tonight I am going out to watch UFC 150. The co main event and main event should be monsters, because all 4 guys just always have exciting fights. The main event of Henderson vs Edgar should be really interesting. Frankie Edgar beat BJ Penn twice (the best 155lber ever) and Gray Maynard twice (an all American wrestler who walks around at 190lbs) and he never cuts weight. He easily could make 145, but he is a beast, has great gameplans, and absolutely never gives up. Henderson is sort of a large clone of him and normally when you have guys that have very similar skill sets, then you always go with the larger guy. I would be pretty surprised if Edgar wins, but I had him losing to Maynard and Penn both times and he beat those guys, so should be some amazing fights.

Salud!
