Hey guys, so I am really excited about the upcoming world series because I am now staked for 6 events including the main event. I played the main event two times in 2006 and 2007, but every year while it was going on, I just felt a real sense of failure in my poker career that as dedicated as I am to cash games, I feel that a true poker player should probably be playing the main event if you play no other tournies. Well I am now going to play it and I couldn't be more excited. Another thing that really made me feel good about myself is that once I posted this package on 2+2, it was completely sold within about 12 minutes of me posting and I had another 10 players or so bummed out that they couldn't get a piece of me. Definitely a waste that I was not in the main event last year because my success in cash games translates very well to the main event in particular, and I am sure that I could have received a stake. Also I think I received one of the larger mark ups that I have seen on 2+2, so that was really cool. In addition to the main event, I will also play 3 1500s, the 1500 6max and 2500 6max. I will definitely need to start preparing by playing more online tournies, picking my buddy Greg's brain about all things tournament associated, and playing some smaller tournies while in vegas. Just really excited, hopefully I can make some people some money.
Also just finished the finale of 24, pretty much a letdown that the first few seasons were some of the best television that I can remember, comparable to my favorite shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Seinfeld, but the last three seasons or so have just fallen off a cliff and this season my fianc©e and I have both been mad after certain episodes for just how poorly written and constructed they were. It really just ended with a whimper which while the final episodes of the Sopranos and Seinfeld were really bad (Sopranos final minute might have been the worst moment in television history), I think I will remember 24 as a drastically inferior show to those 3 by a significant margin due the dropoff.
Lets get on to poker, this month while grueling has just given me a ton of confidence in my game, and more importantly my concentration and tilt control have really been great, when things aren't going well I have reduced tables, stopped playing hu, etc, and that has been a great progression in my game.

Man this was a frustrating hand, against many regs this is a very standard high variance call, but pretty much the only notes I have on this player is that he is a tight player, and against a tight player I need to adjust correctly and the correct adjustments here were to bet two streets and to check fold the river.

Not my favorite shove in the world, while KJ serves as a very nice 4bet bluffing hand, it is easily dominated by the 5bet calling range. I just thought the situation and dynamics overwhelmed the value of the hand, but he showed up with a real hand

This is a god awful bad call by me, the river is beyond awful, and quite honestly against this play I think I can probably find a fold on the turn. I have been working on folding earlier in hands when I am beat, and with that philosophy when you do decide to call on the turn, you do have to call the river more often, which is a fine play but there are still plenty of players that are regulars who still cannot fire three barrels.

Very rarely do I include a loser that I am thrilled about, but I am so happy with my player here, it is really really good

Super weird spot here against a guy that all I knew was that he was almost certainly a fish but I only saw maybe 5 hands of his at the table. So my reads were very minimal but obviously I thought he would bet anything when checked to. The overbet concerned me not that he had a flush, but a two pair type hand was my biggest concern, just a note to myself that when fish randomly overbet the pot on the turn or river, warning signals should really be going off, they did but I still called

I felt pretty frustrated at certain points during this session, and while this is a really +ev play against certain players, I just had no reason to believe that this player would be raising a lower flush draw in position, so this is just a spot I need to take a breath, slow down, and just take a card off and see if I can hit my flush on the turn because his range might only consist of a 9 here.

Somehow this guy is crushing this month, his style is super weird, I think I have like 15 notes on him or something extensive like that, unlucky

Its funny how off this EV stat is in HEM. There are days this month that I have run a few buyins under EV and I felt like I ran like the sun, and other times it says you ran great or average and you didn't. Definitely one of those days today

Really like my bluff here, unfortunately he showed up at the top of his range, I don't think he calls with just AJ/AQ type hand

Please refer to my notes on the AT hand above, 1 tabler overbets on the turn, you should be scared. Definitely a line in the future I will be very aware of after looking over these hands, so that has definitely made this review worthwhile.

Man this is a tough spot where it really is just a level war. I know this player will take this line with almost all of his range here, value and bluffs. The issue then becomes what level is he on, how does he view my hand, and how does he perceive the game. This was our 3rd hand at the table, and for that reason, I thought that he would be more willing to showdown or not bluff early, so I opted to fold, of course if hes a really good player he might recognize my own disinterest in getting the money in with a second pair type hand and own me. Very tough spot, but its a spot that I think is very tough to analyze just the hh, and it is more important to understand the dynamics between the two players
http://weaktight.com/2349143
I think this is a poor call by me, and not because of the dynamics or table image, or anything like that, this is a simple spot where the timing tell made me not want to call, and everything else about the hand made me want to call, I should have weighed the timing tell as more important than the rest of the hand or the image of the player, because while I think he shoves his whole range here, I don't think he has the same timing with a bluff

Very unlucky especially against this fish
Day 22: 1944 hands, +4bi
