CardRunners Pros have been scooping up titles and major cashes over the last several weeks, making a big splash in the tournament poker scene.
On August 22 Brian Hastings won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour Regional Summer Splash, winning both his first WPT Title as well as $213,877. The tournament was contested at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida. Hastings defeated Griffin Malatino heads-up. On the final hand of the tournament, Malatino got his chips in the middle with the 7-high flush draw which was a big underdog to Hastings’s Jack-high flush draw. Neither of the players paired their hand or made a flush, and Hastings ended the tournament with his Jack-high hand.
The 2011 World Championship of Online Poker kicked off on PokerStars on September 4th. Just a day later, CardRunners Pot-Limit Omaha Pro Galen “Gakn29” Cranston finished runner-up in Event 4, $320 PLO. Outlasting a field of 1697 and blinding off for nearly an hour due to disconnect issues, Cranston still managed to make it to heads-up and collected $61,092 for his efforts, losing to bratpack1979.
Just two days later, the second Epic Poker League Main Event began in Las Vegas. 97 of the most decorated poker professionals entered the $20,000 buy-in event at the Palms Casino. After three days of play and a day shy of his 22nd birthday, Mike “Timex” McDonald emerged victorious over a final table including CR Pro Isaac Baron, Nam Le, Dutch Boyd, Fabrice Soulier, and Erik Seidel. McDonald added $782,410 and pushed his live earnings over the $3M mark.
Finally, Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen announced on his Twitter that he is the newest member to join the PokerStars Team Online. The announcement was made on September 11th. With over $4.2 Million in tournament earnings, Petersen is known as one of the toughest regulars in the high-stakes MTT scene.
